Levy's ideal is young English (British) talent isn't it?

Brits come at an unreasonable premium, so there is money to be made there. There is also the idea they would settle better/quicker.

Ive never felt Levy specified British talent though, rather young/potential type players who wouldnt devalue.

I don't think we're skint, but I don't think we're flush. I think making big bids, knowing full well you don't have a hope in hell of getting that player, is a clever tactic to promote the illusion we're a "player".

So we made bids we never intended to entertain (eventhough we'd be contractually bound to pay if the other team accepts it) with money we didn't have just for publicity sake? Not Levy, not a chance
