Our best result of ther season so far?

I would say WBA away as well, we usally do well against Norwich but WBA have been a bit of a bogey team away.

clearly liverpool. we tore into them in the first 20 minutes. should have been 4 nil up even before the first red card

we totally humiliated them.

Totally agree with this. We truly spanked one of our main rivals. they couldnt get near us so resorted to kicking us - hence two players sent off. Havent been as proud of the team since Arsenal away last season (sigh!)

Liverpool 4-0

We smashed their top four hopes with that performance, got the Modric voodoo out of our system and kept it up for the entire game. Saudi Sportswashing Machine was similar but they aren't as big a scalp as Liverpool.

Was nice winning away at WBA.One of those teams we usually struggle away at.
Now hopefully we can repeat that trick at Chelsea and Bolton

Liverpool, ARSEnal and Saudi Sportswashing Machine at home plus Wolves, West Brom, Norwich and Fulham away have been our stand our results this season imo.

I was definitely wrong to say often but there are instances where teams have done well against the other top teams but finished lower than those results would suggest they should.

Last season Arsenal and Man Utd had the best "top four only" records (both got 10 points) yet Arsenal only finished fourth in the league.

The year we came fourth we took 3 more points from the top four sides than Arsenal, but they finished 5 points ahead of us in the table.

08/09 was definitely the big one as Noddy said, Liverpool took 14 points against the top four compared to Man Utd taking 5 points, but Man Utd won the league.

Having a quick look at the old league tables it looks like the team who does the best in the top four mini league usually ends up as Champions, but there seems to be more variability in the teams fighting it out for the remaining CL spots, where good form against the lesser teams can make all the difference.

Only twice in the past 8 seasons has a team not finishing 1st in the Top-4 Mini-League won the Premiership - History suggests mini-league will determine Premier League champions: Football - Telegraph

2009 as you said and 05/06 when ARSEnal got 11pts compared to ManU' 8. Chelsea in picked up a maximum 18pts on their way to winning the league in 2010.

Hopefully we can end the (22 year long) Stamford Bridge hoodoo on the 24th which would only leave the ManU jinx to break...

I guess the point is that you get similar results against the rest of the league so if you can take points off your rivals that makes the difference.

bit daft they still talk about the top 4 min league including liverpool. a long since and probably until they're a top 4 side again.

more relevant chelsea getting battered by a genuine top 4 side in 2010
