Hard to look past Rooney, even if his career has been littered with a mix of purple patches and then invisible streaks. On his day, he's World Class, but he doesn't have enough of those to justify the hype.
Other than him, the rest of our squad is horribly average. Sure, Baines is good but the rest? Either getting too old, or not good enough, or a mix of both.
Gerrard could perhaps be the only other choice. I don't like his attitude, or that he dives, but he is another of those who are excellent on their day but doesn't always shine.

I think that point isn't really worth any merit in this kind of thread. Would be like picking a Fantasy Football Team called Golden Duck Xi and saying that you couldnt have Aguero as he doesn't like birds. :/

Will Hughes and Luke Shaw are the only two current English players I'd want us to consider bringing in.
The current squad is mainly relics from the bad old 70s and 80s, and we already have a lot of the most promising youngsters (Carroll, Pritchard, Coulthirst etc.)
