*** OMT: Tottenham Hotspur vs Crystal Palace ***

Disappointing performance particularly second half. Hard to explain it because I can’t believe Jose sent them out to play like that. Got what we deserved but I guess over the course of a season, we’ll have these games and at least we didn’t lose.

Thought Aurier, Hojbjerg and particularly Toby were our best players. Bergwijn and Reguilon were poor today even though they worked hard.

You were complaining about the tactics though? It wasn't the tactics to let Palace have more chances than Arsenal or to not control the game defensively - sounds like you're unhappy that we played poorly not that the tactics were wrong which is what you're post read like.

Like i said if you accept us playing defensive football where we camp out and protect a lead v brick like Arsenal you can't complain about setting up the same way v Palace.

How is that not tactics to let Arsenal have the ball wide and cross it to two strikers who can't header.

Plus we were 2-0 up, it's a completely different scenario between the two games. Therefore I can complain about the tactics. It was the right thing to do last week, but the wrong thing to do today.

Fair result. We can’t just sit back when we get a goal, otherwise we risk results like this. Guaita did well for Palace, and we ‘could’ have scored a second, but we didn’t. It’s like we let Palace in to the match.

Now Liverpool will go top, and it’s our journey to them next. We are still achieving more than most people would have expected. Lessons are still there to be learned for the squad.

In the amazon show he kept moaning they did not press enough. We are a decent team but aside from kane and son we are not the class of some of his previous sides.

Hindsight is 20:20, we don't need to set up defensively v one of the worst attacking teams in the league in order to win - in fact on paper without hindsight if you were going to choose one of the two games to set up defensively it would have been today. The application was poor, not the tactics (if you're willing to accept this approach in the first place)

Let's see where we are come the end of the season eh because we can get top 4 without having to play in this manner.

I don’t mind playing like that against the top teams. But I don’t get why we just stopped playing after about 30 mins. We were hurting them going forward. They wouldn’t have come back from 2-0. We were asking for trouble by giving away so many set pieces.

Not blaming him for the result but I really don’t see what Bergwijn offers. Kills every attack, doesn’t create, rarely scores. The only thing he offers is defensive work. Not the only one who was poor though. Kane and Son were quiet, Son especially. Reguilon was sloppy.

Still need players to create though
And you would still need to be able to stop us getting more... there ain’t many who can do that as we have already seen this season
The team we put our doesn't actually create a great deal. The few changes we create are usually of very high quality but there quantity is low.

I've come to the understanding it's not so much about the non footballers we play like Sissoko but instead the passive tactical approach we take.

Eh. I'll take that point. Palace away is always hard, they're in great form, and we made about a dozen grest chances but were typically, typically denied by an inspired goalkeeper who is otherwise mid-table trash for all his other games - the type only we face, again and again.

Buuuut....I really cannot, cannot understand how we were so dominated for 40 minutes straight in the second half. We fell back time and again, were second to absolutely every ball, were lazy and weak, and, worst of all, utterly stupid. Fine, if you're winning everything in the air, then sit deep and head it away. But we were losing everything in the air, being outmuscled and outfought, and we *still* just sat there and took it until the inevitable equalizer, when we suddenly woke up.

Why? Where is the game intelligence, the game management to know that we need to keep the ball away from our box since they would win everything in the air? This is Palace's game plan, and will always be their game plan - get it to Zaha, shimmy, whack a cross into the box, win the second ball, goal. But we just sat there and took it. Sigh.

Otherwise, as I said, decent point. On another day, their keeper is just okay and we score 5 to their 1.

Any other day the keeper would not make some of them saves and we would win comfortably.
That is true, he had a great game, but we conceded possession for about 50mins by going along with it every time. Our chances were bunched either side of this spell when we decided to retain possession and work the ball up the pitch. I don't mind sitting deep against better teams but Palace were not that. And we gave them enough chances to win that game also, let's not forget.

Palace offered more in attack than Chelsea and arsenal did
But Hugo didn’t really have a save to make
The goal he could have maybe done something different but it was a great ball in

I think it is important to ask why our midfield can't seem to pass and keep the ball . Poor games from Aurier, Reggie, Bergwyn and Son. The space was on the flanks and all their attacking play was just dreadful.

Quality is better than quantity every day of the week

Some of the whinging on here is fudging atrocious. We've drawn, away from home, after conceding for the first time in 8 hours. Did you think we'd never, ever drop a point again? Football is a brick industry, and football fans are honestly a an absolute bunch of clams, and there are plenty on this board too, judging by the comments.

We were 14th just over a year ago, now we are spending time at the top of the league. And people are having utter hissy fits like a bunch of self entitled 12 year olds.

Honestly, such a pathetic bunch of fudging cretins. I think some people need to fudging grow up and put things in perspective.

wow! calm down. People are entitled to criticise or aren’t they? When you are top of the league with the squad we now have it raises expectations that we should beat sides that struggle to finish in the top 10. We can be happy that we won last week equally unhappy when we struggle to beat teams we really should. Really fudging disappointed.
