Ollie Tanner

Where has the "he turned us down" come from? The statement from Lewes says the two parties couldn't agree terms. Maybe it was Tottenham that walked away because he was taking the tinkle, but either way, agreement wasn't reached.

It's coming from fans and media perpetuating the 'Typical Spurs failing at easy transfers narrative' regardless of what's actually going on. As though it's some incompetence from the club that prevents these things happening.

One or two days back, the Mail Online posted an article about us which - partway through - accidentally still included the editor/proofer note that they should ensure clear reference was made to Spurs failing to complete transfers.
So many different outlets have this line but, for this month, what's it based on?
Traore was shopped to Barcelona
We tried to opportunistically sign a long-term Liverpool target but, unsurprisingly, they decided to push ahead with Diaz when notified of our bid.
Tanner, according to a later piece by the Mail, wanted too much money for a player in his position.

It was based on the narative that conte would walk if he wasn't backed.

Yeah. I can well believe that Conte could step out if, after the summer, we haven't given him backing. But January isn't going to see that.

Reality doesn't matter. It sells stories and some people believe it (few on here were saying he'd be gone in feb).
