My word...... *shaking my head*

Would you rather play players committed to the cause or those with at least half an eye on the exit door?

For an analogy, if you had a wife/husband telling you they was looking for someone else, would you just keep her until they moved elsewhere, pandering to their whims just so you had a partner? Or would you just cut loose?

He's a professional. As long as he's here, he's giving his best. Always has, and will continue to do so. The partner analogy is just ridiculous, and you know it.

Er... anyone know owt about their 1st team?

Lerner put the club up for sale in May 2014, valuing it at an estimated £200 million.[63]

On 18 May 2016, Randy Lerner agreed the sale of Aston Villa to Recon Group, owned by Chinese businessman Xia Jiantong. The sale was completed on 14 June 2016 for a reported £76 million after being approved by the Football League, with the club becoming part of Recon Group's Sport, Leisure and Tourism division.[64][65][66] Recon Group were selected to take over Aston Villa following a selection process by the club.[67][68]

After failing to secure promotion to the Premier League in the 2017–18 season speculation about financial difficulties at the club began to mount. This prompted the owner Tony Xia to seek additional investment. On 20 July 2018 it was announced that the NSWE group, an Egyptian company owned by the Egyptian billionaire Nassef Sawiris and the American billionaire Wes Edens were to invest in the football club. They purchased a controlling 55% stake in the club and Sawiris took over the role of club chairman.[69] On 9 August 2019, on the eve of Villa's Premier League return, documents from Companies House revealed that Recon Group's minority share ownership had been bought out, and Dr. Tony Xia no longer had any stake in the club.[49]

Not Villa! I,ll never forget that first game at the lane with Ardiles and R Villa. Ticker tape welcome,...we flopped 4-1. Granted though we had a terrible side. John Lacy CB,
B Daines goalie I think it was, no decent players up front...Hoddle played. Villa were up for it and they won't be a pushover today least not forget!

Come on you Spurs ….and if you are going today ...get behind the Lads!!! We have to turn this New Stadium into a winning venue to start a new chapter for the club. If we can't
create a decent Atmosphere... it will be the same old story of useless shaky knee fans and that silly nervous feeling gets passed down to the players there is no doubt about it.

So come on you Guys lets get some noise going, not just at the start of the game but through to the end. WE ARE TOTTENHAM!

Still find it hard to get motivated for this season l Still feel upset and depressed about the CL final defeat. Hope the team will lift our morale with good performances this season. Surely, we should target to win at least 1 trophy this season. We have gone without winning any trophies for 11 years now which is too long for us. Hope we will manage to win the badly-needed trophy this season. We do have good record against Villa, winning 9 of our last 10 matches against them in all competitions. Hope we will start the new season in winning form by beating Villa.

Despite us signing Ndombele, Lo Celso and Sessegnon still feel worried about our attack. Our regular goal scorers like Kane, Son and Alli seems to be in bad goal scoring form. With Son suspended for this game, hope we will get inspired by Kane with his goals. Kane has not been in his best form for more than 1 year now. Hope he will get back all his goal scoring form in this match. Surely, Lamela has to start this match as he has been in great form in pre-season. Want Moura to start as well as he too has been in good form lately. Not sure if Eriksen should start as he has not been in good form with all the speculations about his future. Not sure if Lo Celso will be ready to start after only signing for us recently.

Our midfield seems to have many options now. Not sure who will start this match. Maybe Ndombele and Sissoko will be our first option later on. Won't mind if we start this in this match. Maybe Winks can come later in the match. I think we should keep Wanyama. He has been injury-prone in recent times but can still help our midfield if needed.

Can't help but worried about our defence. We really should have bought at least 1 defender. Vertonghen and Alderweireld are getting old. Not sure how long they can be at their best with Alderweireld always being linked elsewhere. Still not very convinced about Sanchez. I think Sanchez gets panic easily against big teams. Let's hope Alderweireld and Vertonghen will be able at their best together for few more years for us.

It is important to get a good result in our first match of the season. Let's hope we will put up a good performance and get a convincing win against Villa to start our season in winning form.

Everybody dance now!

It won't be easy against Villa as they are just promoted and will be fired up to prove their worth. We need to get an early goal to help us settle down and go for more goals to kill the game off. Let's hope we will turn up with the right team and mentality to get our first win of the season against Villa.

Always difficult to guess with promoted clubs but given the number of signings they've made, there's always the risk that they take 10-15 games to gel and are in the bottom 4 or 5 in November

Railway Tavern at Liverpool St is absolutely heaving with Spurs, didn’t expect it this busy 4 odd hours before kick off
