The beauty of it is that it is evidenced. Its far from an opinion piece.

I watched it on TV, I saw what the VAR Ref was looking at at the time, I understood exactly what was happening and was quite content with it.

I am also very confident the decision made was absolutely the right one, and that had it been made without VAR the ref and linesman were absolutely ill-equipped to make the call and so would have basically had to toss a coin on it.

From what Im seeing in your posts, your complaint isnt with VAR, or the decisions made at all. Its with the fact you didnt know what was going on and got frustrated. Had they shown in the ground the VAR feed as they did on Sky, would you have felt the same?

Id wager not, because there really wasnt much to debate once you had seen it IMO.

The Linesman at the game got it right, didnt he?

Was sitting in front of the linesman and he didnt raise his flag?

I dont like VAR because it is not needed, sure mistakes are made - but that is part of the game.

There has been much debate as to why - it seems its possibly because VAR is in effect and so they had to let things run. So honestly Im not sure what the upshot is there.

I am sure to get it right, considering the margins - it was REALLY close - in real time having seen it only once from 20-30 yards away...

..well that would be more luck than judgement.

Totally fair. I dont agree, Im sick of being on the wrong end of decisions, of refs being biased etc - and I think a more absolute way of handling incidents like that is essential. That said, I can understand your position.

    Be careful
I’ve had people tell me I’m wrong yet I was there probably very near you and saw the same thing
He did stop running but never raised his flag for offside

If there isn’t mcuh to debate how an Chelsea be allowed to show off their magic photos... or talk paper drag out several hours per day on the subject

The problem now is there can be an argument that the system has flaws even for something as basic as offside

It should be a case that line calls are 400% right but after Tuesday night there is an argument that isn’t the case and that’s clearly an issue

So if a linesman/ref get it right its luck, but when its wrong its bias?

Refs are not bias in the slightest, they are wrong but they are not bias.

Plus, how many decisions do we get that are also wrong/soft - you are talking like we are the only team that get sinned against - we get some dodgy decisions in our favour.

I assume its because it was going up to VAR to check, but if he thought he was off he would have flagged like he did correctly for the rest of the game.

If they are told not to flag for tight calls, you may as well not have them at all and use VAR for everything.

But then it leads to the question, why flag for anything?

VAR would be improved massively with a breakdown on why decisions are made.

Lets be honest, you, I and Chelsea numbskulls dont understand the rules anywhere nearly as comprehensively as qualified refs do.

A simple "This is onside because this and this" kills any debate.

Chelsea shouldnt be allowed this pantomime, and thats all it is.

No, not at all. Lets play it out logically.

    A) Ref is 20 yards away, poor angle. Linesman 30 yards away. slightly obscured view. Incident happens. They see it once, in real time, while trying to monitor several things at once.

    B) Ref has a monitor, every angle of an incident, and the option to replay and slow mo.

Which one is most likely to get the decision right?

Referee A) isnt overtly biased - in that "Oh that ones in Man Us pocket". But they are most definitely bias in that who they are making the decision against, what that decision might cost etc weighs on the call they make. Its not an inbiased decision, put it that way.

Im not saying we are the only team sinned against. Though we do get plenty. Im sure every team feels the same. The point is, when there is a tool to prevent it, why CHOOSE to be in situations like Mendes at OT?

    No, it’s correct.

The widest angle at the bottom, nearest the point of view, narrowing as it gets further away into the distance.

I believe the Mirror has quoted the same person.

Essentially they're saying what everyone already knew - the Chelsea shot is taken a few frames after the ball has been played. That's obvious because the ball is blurred in Chelsea's image.

It is good we won the first leg but wish we had won by more goals. It was not a convincing performance and result. With a slim 1-0 win, we will be under pressure in the second leg at Chelsea. It was disappointing the way we got outplayed by Chelsea for whole match. We didn't look like scoring apart from the penalty scored by Kane. Remember, we had totally outclassed Chelsea and could have scored 10 goals against them when we beat them 3-1 in the league just a few weeks ago. It is puzzling why we were poor against them this time despite playing a strong team. Let's hope we will lift our game in the second leg and get at least a draw to progress to the Final.

Credit to Kane for winning the penalty and scoring from it. He also had 2 other shots saved by the goalie. But apart from that, we didn't have any clear shots at goal. Our key players like Eriksen, Alli and Son had a poor game. Was really disappointed with Alli as he was not involved in any of our attacks. Remember, Alli always enjoys turning up against big teams with crucial goals but he had a quiet match this time. Son and Eriksen were virtually missing for whole match. Maybe we should have started with Lamela who had a positive impact when he came on in the second half.

Our midfield had a mixed match. Thought we got outplayed in midfield but we improved in the second half. Sissoko worked hard as usual but his finishing again let him down. Winks had a poor match as he made too many mistakes. Maybe we would have done better with Wanyama, Dembele and Dier in midifield.

Well done to our defence for keeping this clean sheet. Gazzaniga deserves full credit for making many saves to stop Chelsea. Amazingly, we have now won 9 matches in which Gazzaniga was in goal. Alderweireld and Sanchez too did their part to stop Chelsea. Rose too was good in defending too making a few crucial tackles.

With only a 1-0 lead, it is going to be a tense match in the second leg. Maybe we should call upon the spirit of 2002 when we lost to Chelsea 1-2 in the first leg but thrashed them 5-1 at home in the second leg to qualify to the 2002 League Cup final. Let's hope we will have all our players fully fit for the second leg to help us progress to the Final.

Goal counted. Move on! Next please!

Can I just say a few things?
    1) Clattenberg is notorious, attention-seeking taco.
    2) His initial instincts were right.
    3) His “Daily Mail employee instincts are precisely that.
    4) What Alonso’s body is or isn’t doing has no bearing on Kane. How many times has Kane used a split second knowledge of such a pass to gain the advantage? The chelski photo was after the ball left Toby’s foot and the fact Alonso was static in all frames shows why he was never going to get there anyway!

Interesting that no-one seems interested in asking why Sonny didn’t get a pen or why Lamela and Sissoko were each flagged for lesser fouls than Christiansen got away with?

Sky disgust me. The Daily Fail disgust me. Clattenberg cannot even get proper employment.

I'd rather celebrate a goal with 70% of the passion than not at all, but getting a pen that almost wasn't just adds to it.

I saw it was a pen from where I was. I also firmly believe Sonny’s was a pen too.

Just can’t be arsed with 3 days of endless boring droning media scrutiny and moronic debate.

Goal was given, debating it is just pointless waffle!
