*Official* Farewell Steven Pienaar

DublinSpur

Scott Parker
From the OS:

We have reached agreement with Everton for the transfer of Steven Pienaar.

The South Africa international joined us from the Goodison Park club in January, 2011 and made 18 appearances, scoring once before returning to Everton on loan for the second half of last season.
We wish Steven all the best for the future.

--------------------------------------------

His Spurs career never really got going, but thanks for the service anyway, Mr. Pienaar. Hope he does well for Everton (except against us, obviously).

Thanks for gifting bricky the title and costing me £300.00 you macaron.

Very good player but not good enough for us whichever system we play.

Think the problem was we tried to play him in the wrong position. He's not a winger. But we tried to play him there, as a more defensive version of Kranjcar.

He offered very little in the early games he was played in, lost confidence, and Harry lost confidence in him. He was very badly treated in the first half of last season, restricted to run outs only in UEFA Cup games that clearly Harry didn't give a brick about. If he'd got a little more game time in those games we were winning in the first half of the season, allowing Modric to rest a bit, if Pienaar would have come into his own and Modric's form wouldn't have dipped so badly in the second half of the season.

He is 100% guaranteed to score against us next season

He played 1036 minutes for us, got 3.12m in wages (assuming everton paid his full wage on loan).
That's £3,012 a minute!

I was one of those who said when we signed Pienaar that people who didn't really know him would be surprised at how skilful he was, but unfortunately that theory was never really tested! Kind of weird how it worked out for him at Spurs. Still a very good player IMO.

It's where he's played pretty much his entire Everton career.

We bought him for, what, 2 million quid? And reportedly sold him on for 4.5. After no doubt receiving a loan fee for him last season as well.

How does Levy do it? Does he just stare at them, unblinkingly, until they pay up?

Never understood why we purchased him in the first place. Still he never got a fair crack under Redknapp and he is a decent player.

Also worth considering when people mention how much he cost us in wages remember he is one of Bafana Bafana's biggest stars, and considering this think of how much merchandising revenue was generated for the club during his spell.

Good luck Peanut.

We got him because he was available. Proven player at the end of his contract.

10 appearances.

Decent enough player, but will go down in history next to the likes of Nicola Berti, Moussa Saib and Willem Korsten (who were all also decent players prior to signing for us)

Really think he is a decent player despite popular opinion on here. Could have offered a lot but I feel it's best for all concerned that he returned to Everton where he was happy. Should still get a decent reception when he returns.

Why did Everton sell Cahill? I mean he is one of their better players - especially in the air.

Strange transfer
