New Bands

Juicebox

Clive Wilson
I run a live music promotion company www.juiceboxindie.com and get to see lots of great new acts either from my local area or booking up and coming touring acts.

Which bands have you seen recently that you've been impressed with, and which acts have you seen before they made it big?

a few decent bands round Herts/Beds way

Autumnkind
Rae Kelly
My Little Empire (very very good)

you should check out a band called Trail also

saw Jackson Redburn and Taylor (former guy from The Holloways) a couple of weeks ago at The Horn - they are really good, funky, bluesy indie

I know all of those bands really well, and have booked them all for shows. I remember when My Little Empire were called Bently Priory.

I put Jackson, Redburn and Taylor on at The Horn last year and also they did an acoustic show in Hemel Hempstead for me too. Some other bands from Herts/Beds to catch are The Zipheads, The Wholls and The Tearaways.

We've got a band playing at The Horn on 23rd Feb called The Static Jacks, who are over from the States for their UK tour, well worth checking out.

A band gigging around Liverpool at the moment called Manukah.

The stuff on there is mainly demos but they're going in to Parr Street soon to get a proper album done.

Can't say I've seen too many people before they've got famous to be honest though.

Quite a few around Liverpool at the moment. Firstly, The Sundowners. Two of them are related to the Skelley brothers from the Coral, so they have a west coast vibe to them. Bit of Tom Petty as well.

Also band called The Dirty Rivers. Admittedly I'm pushing these because i'm mates with them. They are about to release their first single soon. Can hear it on this iplayer link before it goes down on Sunday. First song on the show. Very Kasabian-ish, BRMC. Very good live, going to see them again tomorrow night. Should be a good one

Dunno if the link will work, copied and pasted on ipad.
Anyways, the band is called Mikhael Paskalev (name of the vocalist who's half bulgarian half norwegian) and they just won a prize for best unknowm band on Norway with this song "i spy".
You're perhaps not looking for bands who's been discovered like these guys, or Norwegian ones, but it's indie and a pretty catchy song so i thought i'd just post it.

woah buddy that's fudging wierd, do you know Mikhael? I've worked with him in the studio, he produced his cousins album and had me as sound engineer on it. His songs are fantastic, really really good. Would love to see him get the success he deserves

Your youtube link doesn't seem to work though.

Normally don't like this kind of stuff but it's very very good. Nice guy.

Thanks for all those links to bands, if any of those that you know personally are looking for gigs tell them to drop me an email via the website and even if I don't have any suitable shows I will forward the details to other venues or promoters that I know.

I was in a band myself for 5 or 6 years and we have played some good gigs at some big venues and have played with some good bands who have made it, some bigger than overs.

We played with:

Koopa - Pop Punk band who got in the top 40 and played main stage at Isle of Wight festival a few years ago. Had offers from some big labels but have since fallen from grace but good songs none the less.

Enter Shikari - Post Hardcore / Emo stuff

We are the Ocean - Emo / Pop

Fei Commodo - Hardcore / Emo

TAT - Pop Punk band with a proper hot lead singer they played the Warped Tour 3 years running, Reading and Download

Sanctorum - Metal band who played Download a few years ago

New Town Kings - Amazing Ska Reggae band making big waves in their genre, signed to Do The Dog records and have several big labels after them including Sony and EMI.

Engerica - A Band that had a lot of promise, regularly played on Kerrang etc and then broke up relatively early in their rise.

The Glitterati - A Band that had a lot of promise, regularly played on Kerrang etc and then broke up relatively early in their rise.

My Awesome Compilation - Great band with catchy pop synth tunes, played Reading and have supported some big bands in London.

INME - Big Essex band who were signed to one of Sony's child labels, played all the big UK festivals along with sell out UK tours.

I remember Koopa, didn't they become the first band from Myspace/without a label to get into the Top 40 via downloads or something like that?

I saw New Town Kings at Nambucca on Holloway Road not too long ago too.

Not a band, but i went to secondary school with charlene soraia, been hearing her ALOT on the radio lately... That twinnings advert did alot for her
