It is similar to the build up to the 60's team, Billy Nick bought in players I'd never heard of John White, Dave Mackay and the vastly under-rated Les Allen, I was disappointed when Johnny Brooks left but we got the best of that deal, Nick also moved Norman from fullback to centrehalf abit like the Dier change. Hope it has the same results.

I would happily eat his cum from my wifes cnut.

Love the guy more then martin jol, my favourite manager since venables. If we beat Arsenal at Wembley he can over take Venables.

I think we're exaggerating a bit our reliance on Kane. Take away his goals and we'd have exactly one point less. Of course that doesn't mean that he's not a key player and I do firmly believe we need another striker, but it goes to show how well-rounded this team is.

I think it is hard to say where we would be without him, as even when he wasn't scoring he was performing very well. I agree with you that the team is well-rounded, but all I am saying is that top 4 is not going to be easy and shouldn't be expected.

I know that was your point and I agree. Was just pointing out the Kane bit, because I feel we can be a bit more relaxed if he happens to not feature in the squad, given the contributions of the rest of the team. I was being selective. :)

A few points I found very encouraging:

...they have managed to consistently out-shoot the opposition. The only matches in which they haven’t have been Man Utd, which featured a dour nine shots each, Stoke, in which they wobbled badly late on, and Emirates Marketing Project, by which time it was irrelevant. In no other game have they conceded more than four shots on target or thirteen shots, two significant numbers to maintain given they are roughly the average amount required that a team requires to expect to score once.

only Palace (who have a game in hand) and Man Utd have spent less time losing all year and only West Ham, Man Utd and Arsenal have spent more time in a winning position. In the few minutes spent losing they have a league high on target rate and a league low rate of conceding the same.

Whatever he is doing with this team is working. We all see that it is working, but the numbers also say so. Hope it lasts :)

I'm going to cut short my internet sabbatical to be the bigger man and pronounce ....

I have changed my mind on Poch. I wasn't enamoured by his appointment last summer and not much last season gave me cause for optimism. Yes, Kane came through but I think alot of that was down to Harry himself who has always been talented. The football wasn't good to watch except a couple of standout London derbies against Chel$ki and Scum.

This season he has been a breath of fresh air however. The team has a mentality and camaraderie not seen at the Lane in years .... we're playing good but efficient football and getting results at the same time. I don't know if Bentaleb and Mason would still be starting if they didn't get chopped but I'm going to choose to believe the plan was to play Dier and Dembele / Alli together all along. The balance is so much better with a defensive midfielder like Eric and Dembele and Alli offer alot more than Bentaleb and Mason if you ask me. The defence is clearly much more settled too, and Poch is only rotating the attacking midfielders which is the one area I think you can get away with constant rotation Some games a Son might be better than a Chadli etc. whereas goalkeeper, defence, deep midfielders and striker should always be the same unless someone is out of form.

He has his flaws of course and these may cost us later in the season. Playing such a high line at all times is a bit too intense for any team. But there are honestly only 2 managers in this league I rate higher than Poch - Klopp and Mourinho - and no way would I swap him for van Gaal, Wenger or Pellegrini. They are all dinosaurs far too stubborn and set in their ways to the detriment of their teams. Poch has got the players playing for him, the fans and each other and it's a powerful mix. Long may it continue. Loss of form will come as it always does with us, how Poch handles that will define his and our season.

If you want further reason to praise Poch - have a read through the last couple of pages of this

    http://www.redcafe.net/threads/anyone-else-sick-of-watching-this-boring-rubbish.410725/page-53

Reminds me of how I felt under AVB and Sherwood at times. At least in the first season under AVB we had the odd moment of Bale magic to make things interesting.

To think - there was uproar at Levy when we didn't get LVG.

The best thing about Sunday's win? Not the three points, although that was great. Not spanking West Ham and reminding them how brick they are all game, although that was also great. No - the best bit, and the best bit about Sunday and this season in general, is that the football was actually fun to watch. We have technically competent footballers that are finding space, moving the ball around quickly and creating genuine chances, as opposed to long range pot shots that count as a "shot on goal".

Thank you Poch for making me enjoy watching Tottenham again.

One of the great escapes. So happy we didn't get LVG. Didn't want him.

I really like Poch, however the only thing which irks me about him is htat he doesn't seem to trust much of the squad beyond his first 11. Maybe that lack of trust is merited but really do think he could have played people like Wimmer this evening and left one of Verts or Alderweireld at home

Well, I'll put it down to us needing to qualify here (as opposed to next month), so that the December schedule isn't too troublesome when it comes to the game against Monaco: having qualified, we're now in a position to play Onomah and co. in that game. If he still ends up going with the likes of Toby-Jan there, though....then, you may have a point.

GK CB and CF seems to be the only positions he is not rotating in.

Keeping a new CB pairing together obviously has it's benefits and Vorm hasn't really done enough to force himself into contention. I'd be resting Kane more I have to say but then I've recently read he's covering more ground than any other forward in the league so it doesn't seem like he's flagging fitness wise.

As for tonight, I'm happy we've won and are not facing sudden death match against Monaco in the December schedule - don't think that'd be the case had we played a weaker XI this evening...

Also, had we won in Anderlecht I'm sure it would have been a different team. The main focus of any game should surely be to put out a team you think will win, right?

Agreed! I think furthermore he is instilling our ability to win lots of matches in a row/not lose them. Instilling a winning mentality. I'll bet he prepped this like a cup final.
