And vice versa as well it seems? (Though so far Jose has had more backing than Pochettino did).

Average of £3m net per transfer window until the last one.... and then didn’t really get a chance to integrate the 3 new players he got in that last window.

Then, one would assume, they can’t actually miss lots of chances can they?

Yes, there really IS a need for you to look back over this thread (especially the last month or so). Because your answer non-figuratively has nothing to do with this shadow boxing routine you're currently into.

Interesting point, but I think it has a lot to do with set-up and how the team is told to function.

And all defences make mistakes but they can be criticised unlike forwards.

I'm not sure what you're hinting at with that sentence... You're implying our manager's racist?

Was a concern that Son looked to cushion the ball to Kane rather than shoot on Sunday!

I'm genuinely curious because I feel like there's something I don't understand here. What's the link between the club's identity and the way the manager wants his team to play? If the game is about glory, then Ardiles should have been made manager for life!

When you appoint someone like Mourinho (or Graham or Allegri), you know football aesthetics won't be their number one priority. Nevertheless, their teams have a distinct identity or we wouldn't be able to say that. I'll give you that we seem to be the exception to that rule but that's because Mourinho's been trying everything he can to turn things around. Having said that, I expected him to change our players' mindset and make them much more ruthless. That hasn't happened and that's why I'd be inclined (personally) to cut the experience short at the end of the season. Regardless, I'm feel like I'm not getting your point about identity.

Man in a raincoat should never have managed this club.

The best example I can offer is Liverpool, who never hired a manager like 3G or Mourinho, despite Mourinho flirting with them. Because they have an ethos.

We have an upcoming pod special where we break down the ENIC era managerial appointments. I think you will enjoy it, and it might perhaps go towards seeing the point made. I will be sure to let you know when it is done.

    And Hodgson.
    United hired Moyes and Mourinho.
    We hired AVB.

tradition doesn’t count for much at football clubs nowadays, unless they can monetise it. I remember the club having a “never red” merchandise campaign, pre AIA becoming our sponsor of course.

ha, just edited to add Woy, good point

I completely agree, all that matters is winning in the future

Arsenal of course shifted massively with Wenger

    Yep.
I hate how Wengers tenure reinvented Goons as a ‘footballing’ side. It didn’t seem as important when it stopped delivering trophies.

I agree. I think Liverpool's owners have been as haphazard as Levy in appointing managers. They eventually lucked out on Klopp and then backed him appropriately to be fair to them.

worse than that I think the 'never red' range came out when Thomson had their red logo splashed all over our home kit.
