Joe Hart

Is he any worse than Gazzaniga? If this happens then it feels to me like we have a first choice keeper and two third choices

Surprised he's only 33 - though he'd be older than that

We would have a #1 and two serviceable #2s *that will not challenge Hugo for the spot)

Which considering how few matches a number 1 typically misses, makes sense.

Someone mentioned it elsewhere, probably in a year or two, when Hugo is closer to the end, it would make sense to invest in a real challenger for the spot. Just not a priority this window.

Thats kind of my point. A first choice but not really a challenger. Lloris would have to be desperately off-form in order for Jose to want to leave him out for Gazzaniga or Hart. So its fine if Hugo's form is ok, and as long as he doesnt pick up a long-term injury

I just don’t get why we need him. His wages are going to be significant. So what’s the point having a high earning 3rd choice keeper who isn’t going to play, when we already have 2 options for low earning 3rd choice keepers who aren’t going to play.

Unless we feel it’s more beneficial for both Austin and Whitemans development to go out on loan rather than risk getting stunted with no football.

Which now I come to think of it, makes a lot of sense.

Good move.

Wonder whether Jose will flog Gazzaniga, or loan him out? Neither Hart nor Gazzaniga are great for different reasons - Gazzaniga can't catch and flaps at crosses, Hart has the agility and mobility of an elephant - and do we need any overseas spots take up by a reserve keeper?

As a back up makes sense. Especially when we might have a couple of weeks early doors when we could be playing Sun-Tues-Thurs-Sun.

Lloris to play League
Gazzinga to play League Cup?
Hart to play Europa?
