Can't believe in 5 years my role(s) have been "at risk" 5 times. **** me it was safer when I was contracting. 2 Offshore initiatives and 3 re-organisations. Worked my arse off this year 120+ hours overtime in May 60 in April. The system is now live and here's the **** you.

Also they got me to cancel my holiday in May as they shifted the go live date. Took 3 weeks for them to decide if they would re-imburse the cost, which they did - no "thanks for cancelling that", "Sorry for taking so long to come back on the reimburse decision and sorry for ****ing your family about also."

Good advice.

15 years I worked for big blue. Climbed the corporate ladder into senior management. Everyday I came home with a bigger and bigger headache until one day my terminally sick ma said to me "...if you don't like it leave, you only get one life". I did and I've never looked back. Working for yourself is not for everybody but I believe you get out what you put in.

True.. when I had my bad accident where I broke both ankles in an accident, it changed my life. My work fudged me over because of the time off and I took them to court and won a nice payoff, along with insurance for the accident, put it all into my own business and I couldn't be happier. The world is really all about looking after numero uno. No more travelling around Europe, flipping one hotel room for the next, fudge that. I have been able to now settle down with my other half.. start a family and 9 months ago I brought in my first employee.. now that was a fudging brilliant feeling.

What does everyone do then? I am getting the blues about my job, under resourced, work late till 8/9 most days and get no overtime etc. Pay is decentish and I'm still learning a lot but not sure what to do.

I work in two very volatile industries. TV and music. As I'm self employed not a year goes by where I don't have some sort of stress about when the next job is coming in. Camera operating is fruitful when you're busy but there's no guaranteed work, and the songwriting/performing game is one for mugs, so I meet the criteria in full!

However, I am doing two things I thoroughly enjoy and I wouldn't change anything. I believe if you have a passion for something, be it work orientated or personal, the right attitude will bring you success. Hard work doesn't feel so hard when you are doing something you are passionate about.

Think about a dream career and what goals you wish to achieve from it. Without wanting to sound wishy-washy, if you put the dedication, enthusiasm and passion into it, the Universe will reward you.

Youre an Auditor right?

I start work at 7 so I can finish at 5.30 as I value my evenings. Its horrible though. I love my team but hate the company, underpaid (I get paid well but underpaid to the hours I work - also work on weekends at times), over worked and brick clients. Been here for 5.5 years - which I think is about right to move on.

I do though have a great degree of independence, I can work from home whenever I want, provided I dont have client meetings etc, and I get on awesome with the team with a bunch of girls under me who report into me etc - which is cool as we are also all friends.

I get employers contacting me daily asking whether I am looking and only over the past month have I actually started to say 'yes' and now getting interviews etc.

May start my own business - like an Egyptian Restaurant in Westfield (not many Egyptian restaurants about and think its a gap) ill call it the 'True Egyptian'

Secondly, which westfield? And will you make good kosheri and hawowshi? If so, we ll be there on a regular basis.

Did you see that they closed down meya meya and turned it into some brick cafe?

Graduated last year from Brighton with a Desmond and Christ there really is fook all out there atm. Over the past year I worked a total of 200+ hours as an events steward at Goodwood for Revival and mainly as a Labourer for some bloke who does small jobs for people's gardens and homes.

The latter job was great, good hard work and in the outdoors during great weather but sadly after three weeks his son had a change of heart deciding that he did want to work for his old man (my boss), it was something I knew about all along but still felt like kick in the teeth at the time.

Atm I am literally getting work in drips and drabs which I am sick and tired of now. Yesterday I threw a few CVs here and there, one position was back in kitchens pot washing and split shifts, something that I did three years ago which I hated with a fudging passion but I need the money for driving lessons, not having a car out here is literally like going into the porn industry without a waxing set. What's worse is that I live with my parents sleeping on the sofa so I kindly get kicked whilst down with that.

If I do get a job soon then I'll start saving as I'm in two minds as to become either an accountant or a conveyancer. Also given thought to moving out to LA, well if the opportunity ever arose, or at least doing a fair amount of travelling as I haven't been on holiday in ten years now is getting beyond ridiculous.

haha yeah I did on purpose... theyre like my minions then again im the Managers and Directors Bitch - so stands to reason that if im someones bitch theyre mine.

Westfield in White City. I think it would capture a number of Arabs etc as there are quite a few of them that go there. I love Hawawshi by the way - fudgein love it. I hate Koshari - car city or what. There is a Koshari express now though opened in Covent Garden - which astounded me when I first heard about it.

I have been to Meya Meya and it was pretty poor. I think opening up a place in Edgware road is disastrous - too much competition. White City would be cool as people like to shop and after shopping they like to eat. Not many will have had Egyptian food and from there you can capture the market hopefully. People are bored of Italian, Spanish, Mexican etc etc etc.

Wanna go into Business? 70-30 to me obviously and 50 - 50 capital. ;)

No but work for one of the big auditors but in a diff dept. I also end up working lots of weekends and been working here nearly 6 years. I''ll be 30 next year so maybe now is the right time to look around, money seems decentish but I have nothing to compare it to as I've not had any other job really. Most of my mates earn less than me but they aren't really in too many high skilled jobs. People who have moved on from here all seem much happier. Not much fun working late every day and just getting moaned at constantly - I mean I don't even have time to go to the gym anymore and I'm getting podgy, spend most of my time out of work thinking about work and all the stuff I have left to do etc.

I used to work for the Big Four (More London - should give you a hint). It was my dream job, something I have always wanted etc. Worked my arse off to get the job, worked 17 hrs a day and a year later I quit. Im not a quitter but didnt enjoy it. Every week I was invited to two or three leaving drinks which tells you about staff satisfaction what with the high staff turnover. You also gotta play by their rules and you become submersed into their propaganda and way of working - its like a fudging cult dude. Basically they want YOU to become their brand.

I went to a top 10 Accountancy firm (just below big four) and the difference is amazing. You still work hard but the degree of independence is refreshing and you effectively are the brand, whereas the big four want YOU to become their brand. I get paid alittle lower than I would at big four, if not just as much maybe, but its a small sacrifice for the degree of responsibility, development and independence I have had.

Maybe consider a step 'lower' out of the big four.

We are lucky to have a job though eh
