James Maddison

Bedfordspurs

Martin Peters
Couldn’t find a thread on him but we were after him before he went to Norwich and he is now developing nicely to be a player much like Eriksen

Would cost £20m and is currently at a club we have a good relationship with

Been linked now with us, Pool, united and the caravan dwellers

The thing is the are lots of promising young players who dont kick on, you can not buy them all.

Even Edwards was higher rated then this chap and has not yet kicked on.

Also a lot of good youngsters fall away after 50 league games but others you can see the start of a top flight career in them.

One reason it was so important Onomah went and played this season. After 50 games we can be a better judge of whether he will make it.

Still comes down to what is between the ears attitude wise

Talent only gets you so far and Kane is a HUGE shining light for effort and work rate

Imagine signing a player, letting him leave, and him becoming Kevin de Bruyne or Paul Pogba. No one could be that idiotic.

I think there is a lot to be said for knowing when you can take someone on and have them involved, and when you cant.

Chelsea's approach lacks all sense. Us passing on Maddison back then, only to be interested now (allegedly!) suggests we knew the timing wasnt right, but still kept an eye on the player.

If we go in for him now, £20m or not, Id suggest its because we think we can do something with him at this point.

Incidentally, surely its a better route for him as well? Move from League 2 to the Championship, learn, develop, get a move to the Premiership - has to be preferable to move to the premiership, dont play, train but sit on the sidelines, maybe get a loan...

Apparently he turned down big clubs when he left Coventry because he wanted to play. He also had a loan in Scotland which shows a great attitude from the player.

Also proof some young players think of their long term careers and not the money.

Nice goal that, we sent Edwards and Kane on loan there so I'm sure we have a good relationship and could get a deal done if we're interested (and others aren't of course).
