ITK Thread

I hope he does not get put out on loan immediately...thats if hes that good?

Pele was scoring goals in the WC final at 16..

MK Dons are in a promotion battle - it's probably the only terms they would agree to.

We've still got Dembele and Paulinho who can understudy Mason till this guy arrives in the summer.

5m is a lot of money for a kid.
While that is true.... There isn't really too much downside for a kid who is already one of the best players at that level at 18 years old. If he doesn't make it at Spurs by the time he is 21 then he would still probably command a reasonable fee to a lower level PL or upper Championship club.

Signings like Ali, represent no lose gambles (or certainly very little to lose ones) with a very large potential upside.

Pele was playing against crud defenders that are no where near the level defenders are today
It's all relative though - were they that crud or was he that good? you could argue that Pele could never do that against defenders of today but Pele would also be a forward of today. Imagine how much better Pele would be with today's training methods and such.

ITK: Wikipedia

"On 2 February 2015, Lennon signed a two year deal at Queens Park Rangers, rejecting contracts from Stoke City and Hull City respectively. The fee demanded was around 5.5 million, but Queens Park Rangers manage to only pay around 4 million pound plus performance based add-ons. Lennon played under Q.P.R manager Harry Redknapp whilst he was manager of previous club and London rivals, Tottenham Hotspur."

That's either extremely funny or stupid from the Chel53a tweet.

Edit: Reading the twitter thread, he's now making out that it was a joke

Exactly, everything is relative, all you can do when comparing players of different generations is gauge how much better than their fellow players they were at that time.

"5 contracts being prepared"

guessing that is combo of ins and outs. no idea who he is referring to or how close. but likely 3 out, 2 in.

NB. this stuff gets prepped every window on final day so it's ready to put through quickly upon deal completion. doesn't necessarily mean anything.

From SC

Sonupe, Lennon, Archer and one other kid out on loan.

Dele Alli in.

So far.

If this kid hasn't scored the winner in a World Cup final in the next two years he'll forever be a failure in my eyes.

What did we pay for Bale?

If he turns out to being good enough to play for us regularly, he could easily be worth £20m in a 2-3 years.

And if he is not we could still recoup the fee or turn a small profit by selling him to a midtable Premier League club
