    I didnt think of that!

Norwich is the family team, Id like them to stay up, but right now I wouldnt bet against those three being bottom come the end of the season

    Allardyce rejects Newcastle
Sam Allardyce has revealed he turned down the chance to take the vacant manager’s job at Newcastle.

The former England boss, who held the position at St James’ Park, from 2007 until 2008, was under consideration to replace Rafael Benitez, who left the club at the end of June.

    However, Allardyce told talkSPORT:

I was very flattered that I was considered but it’s that thing... ‘don’t go back.’

It never got to the type of talks people are suggesting but it wasn’t for me. I politely said ‘no’.

I never got to talk to Mike (Ashley, owner of the club). My agent contacted me, I had a think about it and a quick look at the situation and thanked them very much. I

It’s not for me. Maybe if it was the first time around I would have jumped at it. I appreciate the offer but I was surprised, I’ve not worked for a full season.”

    Only going to get worse.

I think Ashley has finally pushed things too far, and its hilarious to think he decides Allardyce is the man to help!

Ayoze Perez has now gone to Leicester too.

Had his moments for NUFC, but another £30m beer money in fat Mikes pockets was too good to refuse.

Never understood the fascination with Perez, so many here suggest buying him every window.

Either way though its a loss to them, he was their top scorer I think.

Ashley is running them into the ground isnt he?

It’s actually amazing he’s gotten away with it for so long.

Combination of Rafa and somehow even worse teams in the PL.

Suspect time has ran out on both of them though....

    Absolutely.

As I said in the post you quoted - thats a championship squad (and not an especially good one).

Im far from Benitez biggest fan but it speaks to the amazing job he did there.

They are stuffed without major investment and a quality coach/manager - and if Ashley has shown anything its that he wont do either!

    Bruce closes on Newcastle job
Steve Bruce is closing in on becoming Newcastle United’s next manager after holding talks with Sheffield Wednesday on Thursday morning.

Bruce has emerged as the Magpies’ No.1 choice to succeed Rafael Benitez at St James’ Park after the Spaniard walked away following the expiry of his contract.

Bruce met with Owls officials at Hillsborough and told them of his desire to join the Toon.

He was then spotted being driven away by a chauffeur - seemingly on his way to Newcastle - with The Chronicle reporting his appointment is ‘imminent’.

Thats a really bricky move on Bruces part (not the first time for him).

Wednesday gave him leave before he even joined them, and hes only been there a couple of months.

That aside its hardly like he'll make half the job Benitez did there.

Media are saying it'll be Bruce. Ashley just loves trolling those long-suffering Geordies.

"Number 1 choice"... after Allardyce turned them down.

No one can take on that job anymore and then later claim they were promised money to spend, or that a take-over was about to happen etc. etc.
You know exactly what you are walking into.

I suppose the only possible upside is the potential takeover. Might be nice to be the incumbent manager when (if) they get new owners willing to pump money in...

(though more likely they want their own man too!)

Otherwise I agree, its a poisoned chalice with a clear set of rules/restrictions/what to expect.

Anyone who takes it knows what they are walking into.

I think when Allardyce, of all people, who hasnt even worked for a year - when he turns it down it tells you everything you need to know.

Who would want to sign for Toon period?

Their squad is poor, their prospects are poor...

The only moves that make sense to me are mercenaries (if offered enough money) and Championship players looking to impress at PL level...
