New irons arrived today
Rushed down the range to hit them
Hit 25/40 off the hosel hahaha
Everything felt awful today not really in a great frame of mind the last few days and that didn’t help either

280 balls at the range this morning and I've sorted my issue out
All my weight was on my toes, when the new irons go they really go, lovely feel to them too

280 balls! That's hardcore mate. I'd need a lie down after that.

Those P. 790's are beautiful looking irons though.

6 new irons probably hit 35 ish with each and then some Driver/3 Woods and a good few little chip shots with my wedges

I keep picking them up and looking at them, proper golf porn haha

Tasty looking clubs Marky, it will be interesting to see if your scores come down or not.

I took my son out yesterday evening to "his" golf club* and there was nobody teeing off at about 5.15 so we sneaked on to play the 1st 2nd 3rd 8th and 18th and he played very nicely indeed for a 9 year old.
Bogey, par, double, bogey, double, bless his socks.

Our local club is only £60 for the year for kids, which includes an hour group lesson each Sunday and one free proper lesson each month, incredible value. Plus 10% off food and drink in the clubhouse so it pays for itself. Adults is over £1k so I'm too tight to fork out. Might do so in a few years, will be nice to play him 'properly'. I think.

Clubs seem to do such good deals for the kids nowadays

Ive heard many people say that it's best to only hit 30-40 balls on the range each visit. The thinking is that it makes you value each ball, relish it, and think more carefully about each shot. With hundreds of balls the danger is that you're just smacking them, working your way down the bucket and not thinking about it enough.

Yep totally agree would never normally hit that many
I normally will hit 5 wedges to warm up
Maybe 30 iron shots
Then a few Hybrids and 3 Woods then Drivers
and finish off with some warm down wedges

However these are brand new clubs and I really wanted a decent feedback session from them hence the long session

Had a lesson yesterday to try and remodel my swing
I really want to get down to single figures in 2022 and my current swing is holding me back, need to get more width into my swing and a better ball strike
I get round ok but I want to be better
It went absolutely horrendous as my coach said it would be
Am going to go to the range today and work on the changes my coach started to implement

Finally getting to grips with my swing changes
Just hit some absolute crackers on the range and literally no bad ones
The new irons really are something special

Another lesson and then a gapping session with my new clubs
Didn't use my proper PW and also didn't really strike the 6 iron and 5 irons that well, was smashing the 7 iron though haha

You are taking this brick seriously @markysimmo. Good effort! Your shot grouping is pretty consistent but it looks like you are hitting your 3 hybrid further than your 2 hybrid. System error?

I'm actually in a similar place to you regards my golf game. After a long time of casual golfing I decided to get properly back into it this year. Custom fitting/new clubs, the lot.

I too want to get down to single figures and know I'm close. I just need to find a bit more consistency. Been struggling a bit with my new irons so I am having a lesson tomorrow (my first one ever). I hope I don't need a total remodel of my swing, I'm just looking for a couple of tweaks or swing thoughts to take away.

When I get to a consistent happy place with my ball striking I plan to have a gapping session. I might even post the results in here too for scrutiny... I might.

If I do something I do it properly don't see the point otherwise
My 3 Hybrid is a proper easy to hit Ping one, the 2 is a driving iron and one I struggle with, if I'm honest I'm going to sell it as it won't get used much now
I have a 4 Ping Hybrid and 5 wood coming too so pretty sorted for every eventuality

Working on getting my width into my swing, a straighter left arm it's defo getting there
He has given me a lot of visual drills to work on too which I like

Absolutely. Golf especially is all consuming if you're on a mission to improve. I warned the wife when I got serious again that is was gonna be a lot of time and money spent and she was like, "yeah...whatever you want to do".

I'm not sure she still feels the same way!

Really good range session over lunch
Really starting to get to grips with the changes to my swing and drills the coach gave me
Hit some absolute raspers today and really consistent too

Tiger Woods to return to action alongside his son, Charlie, at the PNC Championship this month

PNC Championship from December 18-19 will be Woods' first appearance since sustaining serious leg and ankle injuries in February's car crash; 15-time major champion features in the 36-hole event for the second successive year
