Giovani Lo Celso

Great, don’t mind admitting I was getting a bit worried when there was literally no news since the morning.

Welcome.

so who can explain to me why we loaned him? then without me reading multiple pages to find out.

Cheaper for us, better for Betis.

Reasonably large up-front fee (15m), 40m to make it permanent, contingent on us finishing in a European spot, 5-10m contingent on finishing in the CL spots.

Means that Betis don't have to pay taxes on the transaction all at once, but rather in chunks, reducing overall tax burden. Also means PSG's 10% sell-on percentage will only apply on the amount paid to make it permanent (40m) as opposed to the full amount (65-70m). Basically Betis keeps more of the money.

Betis ends up with just about the same in the end I'd guess, it's just cheaper for us and it screws over PSG. Win-win.

Agreed. Was just interested in the nitty gritty of it all. I am not sure its a good idea to tinkle off PSG though. we have had a few players of them in recent years. At least its all confirmed with the buy option. I would never have wanted us to sign Ceballos who went to the scum on a loan only.

We'll see if there's anything to PSG's reported interest in Dybala.
