Footballers not understanding how to behave off the pitch…

Not sure where to put this but Marc Overmars has just left Ajax for inappropriate messages
No idea what was said but great to see a club act swiftly and for him to publicly acknowledge it too

Well, that's Arsenal taking one up the poopchute.

Overmars was on their long-range radar to move in and run the club once he'd built up his credentials with Ajax. Not now.

High profile people believe they can say and do whatever they like as they are in a virtual untouchable position and this feeling filters down to the general public. We are a "me" society, everyone else can do one if they dont like it.

Was talking about this in the pub the other day. They're going to have to give them classes.

Rape - bad
Sending dingdong picks to the receptionist - bad
Grabbing a woman by the vagina in a nightclub - bad
Beating up your girlfriend - bad
Threatening to kill - bad

Ffs.

Yet my son would not have to go to any of those classes. Makes you wonder how they have been raised.

What has happened to innocent until proven guilty ??

Manchester United footballer Mason Greenwood has been dropped by sportswear giant Nike following his arrest on suspicion of rape.

The 20-year-old was also arrested on suspicion of assault and then later on suspicion of sexual assault and making threats to kill.

The forward was later released on bail by Greater Manchester Police (GMP).

Nike previously said it had suspended its relationship with him but the company has now officially ended it.

"Mason Greenwood is no longer a Nike athlete," it said in a statement.

Manchester United previously said he would not return to training or matches until further notice.

GMP said the player was arrested on 30 January after the force "became aware of online social media images and videos posted by a woman reporting incidents of physical violence".

Nike are not a court. They are trying to promote their products. One way they do that is by paying professional sports people to show their products in a positive way. If they can't do that, because they've been accused of raping, beating and threatening to kill their girlfriend, they stop.

If you bought a product from amazon but they couldn't deliver, would you pay?

Well if he is innocent he can sue them.

I can understand it, but i do have issues with it.
Nike being a drug cheat sponsor are not really in a position to take the moral high ground.
Unless they have definate proof that he is guilty (and if they have that should be made over to the authorities) then really they should at most be suspending his contract until such time as he is found guilty or innocent.
I have no reason to doubt the girl, but no one should be tried in the media, and nike are prejudicing his case.

The cat will likely get a fairer trial than any women accusing a man of rape.

Not if it is trial by jury in the UK.

Rape convictions are strangely low and I was shocked by how Greenwood talked, just do not think it is representative of the country as a whole. I grew up in North London and went to a rough school, drank in rough pubs and worked on building sites. Never did I once hear anyone say they wanted to rape a woman. They would have been called a weirdo and told to fcuk off.

Like most things the media and social media have over blown the whole situation.
