Mind boggling. But that's free market. I understand the shock but not the outrage about it.

The extra ramp in price beyond 4.4bn is the fear Sky or BT had about missing the boat......it really is the crown jewels when attracting subscribers and in turn cross selling their other sh*t. However the shadow that hangs over them and their monumental outlay is i just wonder how my (free) rivers will look in 2/3 years time??? HD/4k ??

Obscene amount, that will come out of the pocket of every person who uses Sky or BT services even if you don't give a brick about Football.

The guy with a pub is paying 15k to sky/bt to show games! You are indirectly financing that.

this, from sky's point of view it's worth every penny as they will still make profit

BT, who knows, the lines are blurred by their bundling of BB and live sport, it probably is though

Sky would make a profit with the PL as a stand-alone package, it's how much they can now afford to spend on other brick to fill their schedule that matters to them. With BT getting all the European football, Sky have saved a lot of money there.

thats the way TV has always worked, loss leader and cash cow hand in hand, the crud that no one watches tend's to home the bread and butter, long term regular advertisers and the ad funded content which guarantees the salary's of staff (as opposed to freelancers) and the capital to maintain infrastructure

So getting down to brass tacks. How much more will this pad down to Tottenham. And allow us some space in the FFP market.

it may well be, but the networks are going to fight it every step of the way, the cord cutters are on the rise but they are still a tiny tiny minority

As soon as the PL can offer me a service that doesn't require a 3rd party subscription I'd be willing to pay for it, preferably a club season ticket or just PPV.
