Everton

I thought before the season started to get top 4 we needed to finish above Arsenal, and the top 3 was the obvious ones. Still feel the same way, if we finish above Arsenal we'll finish above Everton.

However, I must say I thought 4th was beyond us, and am pleasantly surprised we're still in contention.

Lee Mason screwing us this season. Defo penalty for Wigan at Everton. He was dog brick in the spurs stoke game too

I think Everton are a massive threat this season. Are you guys aware that only Man Utd and Emirates Marketing Project have acquired more points than Everton in 2012? That is consistency that simply cannot be overlooked.

Will probably come down to what happens in the transfer window. If they lose Fellaini that would obviously be a massive blow, could see some big clubs go for him. They might need one or two signings to strengthen their squad even if they don't lose Fellaini, a bit like when they picked up Jelavic last season or Saudi Sportswashing Machine got Cisse.

I think that we are favourites to finish ahead of them this season at this point, but they are of course one of our challengers. To finish 4th we have to finish ahead of one of Arsenal and Chelsea, I don't think Everton are likely to finish ahead of either of those teams.

I don't. They'll fall away mark my words. Everton = Saudi Sportswashing Machine 2011/12.

Saudi Sportswashing Machine finished only 5 points behind us last season, they hardly fell away!

I'm still optimistic that we'll finish ahead of them but they're a threat for sure.

I think Baines might attract a few bids too.

Everton's squad really isn't all that. If they had to contend with the injuries that we have had they'd be nowhere. All it takes is for one or two of their key players to be out for a period of time and they will slip....

just like if RVP got injured last season..

bastards why could we not beat them at their place, we should have got together at the start of the season and decided which one of us should try for 4th because i worry we will knock each other out of it

But that is all we said last season. Don't worry, as soon as RVP gets injured, they'll be out.

I'm not saying they will disappear. I'm just saying they have a distinctly average squad and if they do get a couple of injuries to key men like we have this season they will not be anywhere near the top 4. Whether they do get such injuries or not, who knows....

To have a proper go at a top 4 finish I actually think they need 3-4 new players without selling anyone now that I've thought about it. Jelavic is the only one scoring for them. Anichebe and Vellios? This board would be in meltdown if those were our striking options after a first choice striker.

They could have beaten Chelsea today and they tend to do very well against big sides. Always very difficult to beat and always up for a scrap. I'm just not sure if they have enough creativity and ability in their squad to beat the park-the-bus sides consistently enough.
