To a point yes but other than Leicester who reverted to type, the form of teams in the league wasn’t that drastically different than the previous season. Chelsea were much improved. Arsenal were virtually the same. Liverpool and united marginally improved. Bottom line is the league wasn’t radically different other than Chelsea and Leicester compared to the previous campaign.

We were definitely more ruthless and clinical in front of goal as Son became more of a regular and took advantage of Lamela’s extended absence through injury. We also looked more solid at the back and conceded less goals. It’s all subjective of course but the stats and the overall form of the team make me believe that if our 2016/17 team could somehow play the 2015/16 team then the 16/17 would win and get more points ultimately.

EDIT: just checked the league table for each season. 81 points won the title in 15/16 and 66 points was required for top 4 compared to 93 points and 76 respectively for the title and top 4. Leicester and Chelsea essentially swapped from the previous season.

So more points in 16/17 means the performance was better than 15/16?

Yes there is generally a correlation between the two. It is not always a perfect link but in our case the correlation was valid.

@scaramanga im curious as to why you are so convinced the 2015/16 was a better side than 2016/17. The numbers prove the league was harder, more points needed for the title and top 4 by quite a distance (10 points in each case minimum) and we got 7 more wins than the previous campaign, scored more and conceded fewer goals. The team was virtually the same too, other than Son getting more game time and becoming a star man and Wanyama replacing Dier in midfield with Dier dropping into the back five.

Eric spotted, apparently, in the public gallery for a Commons debate on the restoration of Parliament. His Xbox evenings with Dele must just fly by with plenty of banter about faux-Pugin neo-Gothic craftsmanship.

Might be mistaken identity, I suppose, but Politico’s morning playbook is usually reliable.

He had a fair bit of spare time last year so it’s a shame Levy didn’t let him take over on flying buttresses and crenellations for NWHL.

Maybe as someone who grew up in Portugal he should shove off back to that country and leave the ENGLISH premier league for ENGLISH players?? That would be much better.

Think that would be excessive to be honest. All the leave people I have followed have only ever said controlled immigration not no immigration. Much like how Japan and South Korea amongst others have a controlled system. But if you want to go to extremes to make a point feel free.

As a highly skilled professional(he plays for the biggest club in the world) you would think he would get a visa, though I suspect he has a British passport.

Good luck to the lad for being politically active. Even if I don't agree with his views, it shows he is at least a thinker which is not something I got from watching his brain farts last year.

A quick question.... How does controlled immigration work? What is the 'control''?

If not via freedom of movement from Europe how does the country bring in (typically immigrant) workers for low skilled/low paid/seasonal work? If taking on workers for these roles from outside of the EU then are those people more or less likely to remain in the country in their retirement years when they become a huge burden to the state?

I think there's a difference between only paying benefits to those we absolutely must and a regime that essentially promotes slavery.

That can be reinforced with a free Eurostar trip to Calais for anyone who no longer wants to be an economic migrant.
