Fabio Paratici - Consultant

I think it's about time, our transfer policy and scouting has been all over the place lately. The real problem is that Levy can't bear not being in control.
Or scouting isn't bad, we often have scored looking at the right players but the scouts themselves are not the ones who can authorize transfers. That is the transfer committee's remit and ultimately on Don Levy's say so.

A return to the DOF structure will only work if that person is given autonomy to do the job. Otherwise it will fail again.

Any obvious candidates? I think I saw Brad Friedel's name come up somewhere the other day and he's still on the payroll as an ambassador

He'll be given the two budgets to work within. Just as the man himself does currently.

Hopefully a director of football will use his assumed expertise to do the job better. The numbers won't change though.

Agree.

Levy must be the busiest chairman around with so many innovations in the stadium to be fully reaslised commercially. It makes sense for him to step back and leave footballing matters to footballing specialists.even if they failed... Levy isn't doing much better so it's only upside from here.

My fear is that Levy or thfc is suffering from founders syndrome

In layman's terms he is the proverbial emperor with no clothes.

It also means that the people working directly under him and ill say anything to keep him happy or to keep their jobs. The lackeys or cronies or worm tongues will do all they can to avoid the limelight and keep their leader there. Happens all the time in politics and big business and a big reason why big governments and big businesses fail.

Conte knows him and what he will bring, you have to presume that he is happy with Paratici's appointment.

I have heard some suggestions that Paratici is a friend of Hitchen and that they may work together.

Yeah you’d have to think Conte would either recommend or at least approve Paratici.

whilst I’d be pleased with a DoF on principle and notwithstanding the possibility that Marotta was the brains of the outfit I wonder what the attraction if this guy is - Juve wouldn’t have to unearth diamonds as they don’t have to worry about being outspent by their domestic rivals and the Italian league has a different profile of player to the Prem.

I hope that the first thing that he will help us do is shift the unwanted players.

I thought that the whole point of a DOF is that they aren’t wedded to the current set-up and they survive changes of management. If you’re about to appoint your second volatile sociopath running as a manager, surely the DOF should be anything but his mate.

I said that he's meant to be mates with Hitchen. I don't know about his relationship with Conte beyond them having worked together before.

The point I was trying to make was in relation to @SteveAWOL questioning his record. If he was brick, presumably, Conte would think twice about joining us.

Depends on whether Conte is sane, well-balanced, and a team player. I’ve worked with a few sociopaths and most of them like their peers on the org chart - especially those with the power to frustrate their plans - to be non-threatening pushovers. It definitely worries me that the two seem to come as a package.

I was looking forward to a DoF coming in almost as much as a new manager. This seems a strange / underwhelming appointment though? I’ve read very little on the guy, only that he’s been at Juve the last few years as they’ve bought poorly and fallen off their perch. Hoping there’s a juicy article on him coming soon to put his achievements (or lack of if the case may be) in to context.

The guy was meant to be the brains
