I'm not sure. He looks like he's improved after his loan at Sunderland and although Trippier has good delivery he's looked shaky in defence.

Janmaat to West Ham is the word on the street. I think he (Janmaat) is a crap player so I've no problem at all with that.

I actually think £5m is cheap for Yedlin. A US international. 22/3 who impressed on loan last season in the Prem. Should be at least double.

Yea I don't think it's amazing value either. When Ibe goes for 15m or whatever it was then mason is nearer 20 and yedlin 10 surely?!??

You are over-estimating Yedlin. I watch all of the U.S.A games (and some Sunderland games) this last year. Yedlin is a very limited fullback. He has poor touches so he cannot contribute much going forward in higher level matches. He is still also learning how to defend properly. £5m is about right.

He'd better do well in the early games, else he's likely to get stick for coming 'from Sunderland'.

It does go to show how signing talented young players from countries that aren't considered to be football super powers is a good option financially. I think we paid around £2 million for Yedlin, probably got at least half of that back from Sunderland as a loan fee and will now bring in another £5 million from Newcastle.

Never really got to see this guy in action bar the odd match for Sunderland, and he was decent enough then. Anyway good luck to him. He'll do OK there and is better than Janmaat in IMO

Is that one of the factors in signing a young player like him? Blimey what a great way to keep the agents in the money.

Um, which bit? Which factor? We bought him for 2 and got 1+5 in return... this is good.

And he got top level training experience, the MLS got exposure, we got US exposure, he got the chance to be good enough for the PL and now has a career shot in the Championship at a good sized club

    Wins all around

Good for the bank balance granted but we never gave him a chance to perform. Makes me wonder what our scouts saw in him - how could they get it so wrong? Or are we just bringing in players to move them on for a profit? Risky strategy I would say.

Did he bring the MLS any additional exposure that the likes of Lampard, Gerrard have already done? As for us getting US exposure, he was hardly in a Spurs shirt so I'm not sure. Certainly no more exposure than Brad or Dempsey gave us? I stand to be corrected of course.

    Every little helps.
And trying to help develop young US talent - they love that. The old players are just show pieces, the real MLS fans will like being treated like a serious league

Fair comment mate but I am just confused about signing a player who is not then given a chance before being moved on.
