Agreed about it being harsh to blame the goal completely on him but there are no excuses for a pro player ever taking a foul throw, IMO, especially a full back as they take them more than anyone. Taking throw ins properly is the sort of thing you teach a child.

If you want to blame him perhaps he could have done better at the back post rather than let Mitrovic pin him to the ground and then head the ball in.

Wasn't the ensuing Toon throw-in also a foul (although not given) as the tosser's feet were on the line and even on the green bit of pitch ?

Always the way, a player has the ball on the right wing deep in the oppositions half, looses the ball and they counter and score. Person who looses the ball gets the blame and not the other 7/8 players they have to get past in order to score.

Shouldn't happen, but it sometimes does. Shouldn't read to much into it.

No way. No way. No way.

Mitrovic regularly gives big strong PL centre backs problem in the air. Against a small-ish full back like Yedlin you really cannot blame Yedlin for getting beaten. He does get "stuck in" into the duel even, but it's just too close to the goal to make a difference I think.

I didnt say i blamed him, just that his foul throw wasn't the key part of the goal that he was involved in.

If i was judging him based on his performances i have seen for Sunderland, i would say he was a Sunderland quality player, but a lot of that could be down to the team he is in and the manager he is playing for.

PL level full back I would say based on what I've seen. Probably lower half level though.

Will face a tough challenge to dislodge Walker or Trippier though. Probably another loan or leaving permanently in the summer would be my guess. Only 22 though so could still become a very good full back.

Foul throw-in aside, I felt Yedlin had a good game as did Sunderland's other full-back, van Aanholt. Alardyce going all Poch with pushing on his full-backs

The fact that Chelsea lost from a combination of Yedlin crossing into the box with Defoe waiting to poach... delicious.

Agreed, and topped off by a Terry red card, nice way to finish a career. :)

What will happen next season with Yedlin and Trippier? Both good players. Yedlin may get another season long loan imo as he's younger and developing.

I can see the move to Sunderland becoming a permanent one. He's definitely improved defensively under big Sam, final ball seems a big weakness at the moment though.
Trippier and Walker is about as strong as we could hope for as our right backs.

Sunderland will offer Spurs around £2million to turn DeAndre Yedlin’s loan move into a permanent deal.

The 22-year-old USA international joined Sunderland in September after finding himself behind Kyle Walker and Kieran Trippier in the pecking order at White Hart Lane.

Those two have impressed for Spurs this season, while Yedlin has enjoyed life with Sam Allardyce at the Stadium of Light and, with all parties happy for the deal to happen, it should be sorted out soon.

Early season opinions here were largely he had no hope in PL. Had he been discarded back to USofA we might have got nothing.

We might talk them up on basic and/or have re-sale/internationals boosts.

As long as we've sold £500,000 worth of t-shirts in America in the meantime, at least that'll be our money back.

Hull City have reportedly made an offer for Tottenham right-back DeAndre Yedlin to appease their injury crisis.

Starting yesterday's 2-1 victory against Leicester with just 13 fit senior players, the Tigers desperately need resources, highlighted by midfielder Jake Livermore coming into defence partnering Curtis Davies.

USA international Yedlin looks out of the picture for Spurs, who sent the 23-year-old on loan to Sunderland last season, playing 25 times.

Making an offer of £3.5m according to the Daily Mail, it's now a waiting game for City, who are up against former boss Nigel Pearson's Derby County in a fight for Yedlin's signature.

Daily Mail report Newcastle United and Aston Villa have both made £5M bids for Spurs defender DeAndre Yedlin. #THFC

Of course Villa have just signed De Laet from Leicester so i would imagine they are out of the running. Id take £5m though.
