Davinson Sanchez

Totally condemn the abuse he’s getting. It’s mainly people with no lives outside of football I’d imagine who lash out when we don’t win.

But I’m fed up with seeing him in our lineup. He’s a poor footballer on the ball and doesn’t have good instincts or positional sense and is also physically weak despite his size. Given him more than enough time to prove himself now despite the fact that he’s only 24 as some keep reminding us. I’d expect most 24 year old premier league defenders to be better than what he has shown us for 4 seasons.

Actually amazed that’s not the case? I assumed it was all traceable to the laymen (unless you’re a computer whizz obviously)

Some people will be posting from accounts easily identifiable, although in this day and age I would have thought people would finally be wise to it, but there are plenty that won't, easy to sign up to Twitter with a throw away email account

That and a VPN and it makes it hard to track. Although you do still get idiots (especially kids) that give themselves away.
Laws for betting companies enforce them to gather ID, should be something similar for social media.

Frustrating that people fall victim to cancel culture for very trivial things or because of something they tweeted when they were children but stuff like this goes on regularly and nothing changes. Not sure it will ever be fully eradicated but they must be able to do something with the amount of money these social media companies are worth.

I think SM (and the internet in general) is a powerful tool that doesn't quite get treated how it should, as it's still relatively "new" and so is a bit lawless - but with bullying/suicide etc steps need to be taken to make sure people are accountable/aware of their actions as much as they would be in the real world.

Probably not the thread for it!

Racist abuse of footballers is the tip of the iceberg when it comes to SM. The number of suicides from bullying on it and nothing being done about it is horrifying.
Without saying the obvious names, they are amongst the most deplorable people on the face of the earth and only care about profits.
But yes, not the thread for it.

About time Social Media accounts were traceable to a person imo

Big mouth cowards hiding behind anonymity

The difficulty with that is that it could then no longer be used as a tool to spread messages and organise against despotic regimes and would exclude people (like sufferers of domestic violence) who rely on anonymity to share there stories.

Not true. There can still be anonymity but the social media company maintains the info on who the person is.
The only way that info can be shared would be through a court order in a criminal investigation.

Which despotic regimes can easily do.

Which despotic regimes can easily do.
The HQs of the social media companies are in the US and European HQs mostly in Ireland.
The laws there have to be robust enough to make sure that can't happen.
If there is a will to sort it then it can be done.

Unfortunately technology is de-personalising people, bad things are done far easily when you dont have to face people. We all get spam mail trying to con us and its virtually impossible to contact someone at a major company on the telephone as you must use a social media platform. Internet is a great tool but is abused and no one wants to regulate it as they will be accused of stopping freedom of speech.
