“In such a difficult period where I always believed we were not able to reach some of the targets, some of the needs, the club made an incredible effort. Mr Levy showed once more that when he wants and when he is really involved, he is genius in the way he makes deals happen and I can only thank them for what they gave to the team and now it’s for me, for my staff to answer in a positive way and have a good season.”

Mourinho admitting it's up to him now.

Well he doesn’t have any ready made excuses
We have 2 players for every position
    We will get injuries
We will have a COVID issue (although we have had that once just before the season began)
The international breaks will drain our resources as usual
But.... but we really have the depth he would have wanted and we have done it really quickly which is rare for any club let alone Spurs
We’re now nitpicking as to whether a CB that starts for their country so good enough which is massive progression

Agreed. I’m a fan of Levy but I criticised him and will always criticise him for the 18 months we bought no one. He was asking Poch to work miracles with his hands tied behind his back. When gravity finally caught up with us, we had broken an exceptional manager.

But for all the criticism he took then, he deserves twice as much praise now. It’s been as flawless a window as we could have realistically expected. To do it in a pandemic is mind blowing.

We now have the best stadium in the world, the best training facilities, one of the worlds best managers and the best squad we’ve had in decades that I believe can challenge for the top prizes and I’m amazed the media and football experts haven’t caught on to what we now have in place.

It’s a long way from George Graham, Matthew Etherington and Gary Doherty.

No one is perfect and Danny certainly isn't, hopefully he will have learned from his previous mistakes and gets addicted to buying players when needed and the taste for trophies.

I find it shocking that people believe Danny would have spent so much on getting the infrastructure perfect and not match the standard of the team.

Some maybe cynical and suggest that the infrastructure put in place anchors the asking price if there was a buyer... I think we are far far ahead of a potential buyer and if anyone has got deep enough profits to buy a ready made business then 8ts a win win situation.

The absolute best part: it wasn't all scrambled together on the last day of the window. We got the benefit of the seasons new signings before the window even closed, against United obviously but also Southampton and in Europe.

Long live the anti Deadline Day Levy!

Just putting it out there again it’s becomjj in because more common knowledge now that Poch chose not take any of the players he could have in that 18 month period you mention
That was his call and he has his regions (quality, depth, balance etc...)
And Doherty was very good player whose career changed massively with that leg break vs Torquay IIRC. You could hear the snap in the ground. He lost the pace he had and when he came back for the period most fans remember he was very ploddy.

It seems beyond doubt that Poch rejected the chance to sign players but who was he offered? When you have a man overachieving, you back him with what he wants in my view. He got nothing he wanted. I know it’s not 400% someone’s fault but I will always believe Levy could have done more right by Poch.

I never rated Doherty even before the leg break. Was never going to be a very good player in my opinion.

To be honest mate its not really the moaners who tinkle me off, lets be honest most chairman are usually first on the list for fans who need to have a bitch. The ones that are way off base though are the ones that fail to understand that the club have done the right things in the correct order. Building the best stadium in the Country ( if not the world) was always going to take priority over adding top players into the squad and having done so we are now in a position to REALLY become a top team.

The ones who need to take a reality check are the fans who have wanted him removed from the position and new owners to take over because he refused to over spend and buy the players those fans insisted on. They are the fans who will never see the big picture in anything let alone how our club progresses.

Glad to say though that i think Levy has proved all the doubters that he has/had nothing but a plan for us and i can not believe there are still fans who think he did not.

You offer him players you can afford
Doesn’t mean he wants them but every manager has to compromise at times
I don’t know who he was offered and I don’t know who be wanted

As in there are more and more people saying it publicly now and we had links and people saying it at the time
Now the only people saying he didn’t are fans who seem to want to argue about it
Doesn’t mean they are the players he wanted... we don’t know that
But likewise it doesn’t mean the manager wasn’t offered players

Do you think that he could take over future relationship negotiations with the EU now that the window has closed?
