Circus ManUnitus - Erik's At The Wheel

No, they wouldnt.

They would not go and get Gary Cahill to shore up their defence for a season, at the age of 32, having barely played for his club all season.

They simply wouldnt.

The club has an ethos of buying and developing players. And as we have had more money to spend, we have spent more money on exactly those types of players. Sanchez at £40m is a big buy for what he was - a South American youngster on the back of one season in europe. We could easily have got a Cahill for that cash but chose not to.

Yes, we will supplement the team with some big established buys, but that is a world away from the way Mourinho operates.

He knows he is only there a short while, gives no bricks whatsoever about the longevity of the club. He is basically Redknapp, fill the team with aged pros and think only of the immediate future.

Cahill is not a good example. Also probably just a media rumour.
We will though be looking to purchase more of the 'finished article' player wise as our wealth increases.

Mourinho has money to burn so he doesn't have to worry about improving youngsters. He would go a buy Modric rather than bring a Winks through. But we cant!
Our clubs "Ethos" is we buy cheaper youngsters as we can't afford the top finished players.

I prefer it, but it's not done because we have a higher football calling. Its because we are 'potless' by comparison.

You are missing the point.

Buying aged, experienced, ready-to-go (but wont last long) players is entirely different to buying Younger, talented players and looking to develop them further.

Im not saying every buy we have is deliberately a rough diamond. I am saying that we will never have a policy of just buying Matic/Cahill/Sanchez...

Mourinho consistently buys players only good for now, not the future. He is short termist.

We are most certainly not, and no matter the riches I believe never will be.

If we could afford the likes of Kante we would rather that than going for a Barrio, is a better example of what I’m saying

Paul Pogba: Man Utd boss Jose Mourinho hopes player 'understands why he was good'

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho says he hopes World Cup winner Paul Pogba "understands why he was very good" during the tournament.

Red Devils midfielder Pogba scored as France beat Croatia 4-2 in the final to win the World Cup for the second time.

Mourinho said the 25-year-old was "absolutely brilliant" in Les Bleus' final three matches in Russia.

"It's about him understanding why he was so good, especially in the second part of the competition," he said.

"I think that's the point, about his performance level and his contribution to a winning team."

Of course, this has nothing to do with how the manager plays him. Otherwise he'll just be a second-rate Fellaini.

So he’s bulletproof!
So they sack him he walks away with another fortune!
You would think clubs would learn!
