Champions League thread 2013/14

Shame for Atletico Madrid, so close they could smell it. Another very good performance from them again, managed to keep Real Madrid fairly quiet. Can't help thinking that the injuries to Costa and Turan cost them in the end. Magnificent season none the less.

Happy for Modric, less so for Bale for whatever reason. Perhaps the distance to the Modric saga makes it easier to live with.

Surely, the ref won the game for Real. Atletico won the game fairly in 90 mins. But for some strange reason, the ref gave 5 mins injury time which was too long. I think 3 mins would have been enough as there were not many stoppages in the 2nd half. Real duly scored after the 3rd min of injury time. Atletico never recovered afer that. Annoying to see Ronaldo and Bale celebrating. They don't deserved it as they didn't look like scoring until the injury time.

Even if 5 minutes was a bit much, surely 3 wouldn't have been enough. 4 seemed fair to me. Even if it had been 3 I'm guessing they would have been allowed to take the corner anyway.

Real deserved it at least as much as Atletico based on the game I thought as AM didn't really look like scoring in normal time either apart from a massive goalkeeping error from Casillas after a set piece. Bale's massive chance was probably the best chance in normal time actually.

Some of you can say what you like about Ronaldo, but the guy is always coming out with these stories.

Respect.

1966:

Austria won Eurovision
Real Madrid won CL
Fulham relegated
Atletico Madrid won La Liga
Team come from 2-0 down to win FA Cup
..

England win World Cup?

It was also all the way back in 1966 that Wet Spam last won consecutive games at White Hart Lane, until this season gone.

I'm sure I've heard stories like this about Cronaldo before. Not the up himself sook that the media makes him out to be. Determined egomaniac maybe, but you rarely hear a story about him like you do Gerrard, Rooney, Terry, Van Persie, etc.

Brilliant!
Love it…
Let's also say that without him, Bale wouldn't have settled at Real, that's a fact. He could've made it tough.

Can't wait until we win the Champions League and the celebrations in the new stadium look as damn cool as this.

So he brought off a team mate when he was younger by promising to give some money from future earnings? I am down with that as I like a bit of bribery.

A very good player and a rare two footed player which is why I like him but as a person he seems slimy the way he acted to get Rooney sent off in that match. He has done what it takes to get to the top I respect that and I also think for me he is the best player in the world, but him buying a house for some peasant in Maderia is like me giving a big issue seller a few quid.

As for what does Rooney and the likes of Terry do, well I am told they have kept the sex industry in Manchester and London thriving. Not that it needs much help in London, went to a masked ball the other week and instead of like minded couples it was full of high class escorts with old bankers. The swinging scene in London is really losing its naturalistic vibe it started out with.

I dislike Ronaldo a lot but common that's the worst example of being a ****. For me Rooneys the one who came out like a slimy **** for stamping on a blokes balls unprovoked then acting like he didn't.

Ronaldo ran over and told the ref what had happened, as you would when you're unsure whether your mates gonna have kids. :)

Rooney is a thug and everyone targets him because they know he's a little kid. He let his country down by getting all hot headed. And STILL no world cup goal.

Beeb reported we're getting nothing extra.

From BBC Sport's Luke Reddy: "Should Tottenham land Mauricio Pochettino as their new manager, he will not be boosted in the transfer market as a result of the success of former players and Champions League winners Gareth Bale and Luka Modric.

"Spurs did not write any form of clause into their contracts which would see a bonus paid based on European success early on in their careers at the Bernabeu.

"Bale, 24, left White Hart Lane for a world-record fee in September, following in the footsteps of Modric, 28, who moved to the Spanish capital 12 months earlier."

Come on guys, this £20m is a pretty sweet deal for us but this is Real Madrid we're talking about, they will probably want to pay it over 50 years.
