Caulker to Cardiff ***Official***

I dont know what the excuse would be but the composed ball playing CB that was on loan at Swansea did not turn up for Spurs last year. I was really looking forward to him coming in and adding something to the squad. But, now we have taken 8m-9m for him I am a bit meh.. Think he will improve, and at a decent enough level already but not convinced he was good enough for what we need now or that we will really end up regretting it.

My sentiments exactly. I think we got good money for him, about the same as was offered for Daws last summer. I prefer Dawson. And as he is no longer a Spurs player I wish him good luck and ...fudge him!

Can't fathom all this hysteria over a fourth choice cebtre back who made error after error last season.

He will go down the route of Titus Bramble, solid and apparently impressive but then screws up a game's worth of work with a loss of concentration in the last ten minutes.

depends on kaboul........is he 100% fit has injury affected his pace....... speed needs to be matched with high levels of anticipation and being able to read the game.

True, the best defenders have both; but do enough of our defenders have both. Verts was quite easy to turn at times...

Caulker is not the quickest by some some way and in some games had the turning circle of a tank.

I'd love him to have come good as he is very much Spurs through and through but he was a naive weak link in some important games and I think we have all been guilty if rose tinted spectacles

I really hope he goes on and does well for himself and plays for England as let's be honest it's the worse generation of players England's had in years

verts is quality imo and will hopefully progress in his second season....not the best start with the injury be he will come good sooner rather than later hopefully regarding his ankle.

Caulker has gone now so there is no point in dwelling on him now....we defo need another cb so if this chireches deal is serious and on I hope our scouts (sorry liverpools scouts) have done their homework.

we are going to miss Caulker dominance in the air in the PL......Chiriches is poor in his heading ability, sometimes even lets high balls bounce and then he scrambles to make recovery tackles. Hansen will have a field day regarding this.

for all of Caulker's faults, which werent that serious, we should have kept. he is young FFS... future captain material too

imo he was a beast in our box and in the oppositions. I was actually confident he'd win the ball and create an opportunity which I can't really say for Dawson and Kaboul a lot of the time annoyingly.

i thought we had the makings of dare i say it, our own Tony Adams.....lots of similarities on the pitch, both in strengths and weaknesses, plus ive heard that Caulker likes a tipple too :)

Didn't like this move one bit. Don't know if it's because it covers us with all our big signings if Bale doesn't leave and thus gives us a bit of leverage with Madrid or he really wanted out.

I think he has looked very competent in all areas for such a young centre back.

Is Bassong suspended for the first game?

Seriously though, this has tinkled me off on so many levels.

So now 2 weeks before the start of the season we are playing Fryers and Livermore at the back. You have to love our forward thinking

I imagine it was the whole ball bouncing over his head a few weeks ago that sealed the deal for AVB.. that was Sunday league stuff :ross:

Chiriches did the same against Tiblisi on Tues, and it led to a goal
