Barcelona Transfer Ban

Re: The Spanish Football Thread

It makes a nice headline for FIFA in advance of the inevitable appeal that suspends the ban and reduces the fine.

Re: The Spanish Football Thread

Yeap, I can only see this being overruled, but I guess it gives us hope for the FFP regulations. Who knows maybe they will follow through on blocking Chelsea and Emirates Marketing Project if their finances don't check out. Would probably be best if we made sure of 6th after all.

Re: The Spanish Football Thread

Don't think it is to do with FFP. Didn't Chelsea get a similar ban for signing Kakuta a few years back and was immediately overruled?

Re: The Spanish Football Thread

It involves 10 u18 players when it comes to Barcelona though. Not just 1 like with Chelsea and Kakuta.

Re: The Spanish Football Thread

i think it could be to do with the fact that they have imported a number of non-eu players(u18 kids) from around the globe (they have a number from africa and asia). i'm just speculating tho.

Re: The Spanish Football Thread

So what are Barca going to do about a keeper? Valdes is off in the summer isn't he?

Re: The Spanish Football Thread

Why would barca be after Lloris anyway when they've got a better keeper in ter Stegen ?

And they need at least one new centre back. Can imagine Valdes getting offered a lot of money to stay if this doesn't get overturned. Either that or face 'the divine cornrow' Pinto being between the sticks.

Re: The Spanish Football Thread

If it has been agreed would it matter?

If so, then we should offload Lloris and activate ter Stegens release clause. Also snap up Halilovic too

Re: The Spanish Football Thread

Imagine the ter Stegen move was blocked and Madrid swooped in to sign him

Re: The Spanish Football Thread

it depends whats blocked, doing the deal or the paperwork to transfer registration (which would be the easier time to enforce such sanctions i'd guess)

there is probably some rule about existing deals standing

Good call. Can't see Barca's lawyers accepting this. They'll force FIFA to retreat before the World cup is over.
