Anyone remember that Bale chap?

I know I'm being petty and a dingdongead...but I'm rather glad wonderboy is not having a good time & long may it continue..the only downside I suppose is if he fails, then Madrid will offload him to Yanited, Chelski or Emirates Marketing Project...

don't they vote now based on the last 12 months, I don't think he'll win but I wouldn't be surprised if he took 3rd

it always seems a game of favourites to me anyway

personally, i'd give it to Zlatan

True, more of a big name award than an actual performance based award. Zlatan should definitely be up there. Ribery as well.

It will probably be Messi or C. Ronaldo though.

it sticks in the craw, but come on, Wenger has been the only reason they have finished above us for the last few years

he's the only guy in that list who has overachieved

You think Ferguson didn't overachieve when he won the League with that squad?

I think they've only included Mourinho and Wenger so that when they give it to Ferguson he can rub their noses in it with his acceptance speech.

I think he'll be at United or City next year, it's not gonna work out for him at Madrid, his game's better suited to the Premier League.

Be careful what you wish for.

its a good point, I certainly don't think he overachieved to the same degree Wenger has as he still had RVP, Rooney, Carrick et al and the competition was managed by Mancini which gave them a natural advantage, i'd say Sir Alex was more in the "achieved" envelope, put another manager in charge and they are still a title challenger. Put someone else in at the Emirates (last season, pre Ozil) and thats a mid table squad imo

If we didn't put in a clause that says we get priority on Bale if he's being sold then we are fools

if Real sell within 2 years they will want to recoup most of the 86 mill they paid, so that rules us out, oh and the fact that we cant get near his 250k a week salary

yep, City or Utd will gladly pay 60-70 mill for Bale and meet his wage demands.

I doubt it matters what clauses we have - we'll never afford his wage demands now. That's if we could put together the money to buy him in the first place.

Beat me to it.

I dont think he will ever match the season he had with us last year, no matter who he plays for. Going to Real was always going to be a massive risk and its one that could severely effect him. Will he ever be the same player again ? Its not a given.

Two goals and two assists for Bale tonight, just to make you feel better

Free kick goal was slightly lucky, but the other was a brilliant finish - just like he did so many times for us last season. Straight into the top corner.

Yeh I agree, I would much rather he goes on to have an illustrious career with Madrid then comes back to us when he's about 35 to finish his career then flops and is sold to united, city or Chelsea next year as some people have suggested.

2 goals 2 assists? Great showing from the lad. Hope he returns to WHL once he's done with his dream (may he score the winning goal against Emirates Marketing Project and chelsea in the CL final) and making his gazillions!
