Anybody here play snooker?

Ronnie wins the UK yet again, now won more of Snooker's majors than either Davis or Hendry. He is the greatest, I hope he carries on playing for a long time, one of my all-time favourite sportsmen.

I loved playing snooker, my dad started taking me when we went to Butlins in the 50's, I went to a club 4 or 5 years ago with my son and it was nice to see the clientele hasn't changed from the 60's we must have been the only people in there without a police record.

I love it and I love how he gets on Barry Hearns nerves

Ronnie has just won a record equalling 36th ranking title (level with Hendry) and has gone back to number 1 in the world rankings for the first time in a good few years -- and he has done it playing in far less tournaments than everybody else this season, as he just picks and chooses his events. The comeback against Trump earlier in the week was probably the highlight.

Gonna be a great World Championship this year, with the form of Ronnie, Robertson and Trump. Just a shame ITV don't have the World Championship, I much prefer their coverage to the BBC.

Is there any doubts that he is the best of all time?

I would say he is the most "talented", Hendry for me, was the best, on his day the scot was unbeatable, Ronnie, on the other hand, has mental issues sometimes and snooker by its slow nature of play does rely on mental fortitude.
While I'm here. great to see Jimmy White win a title at the Crucible. I was heartbroken in 1994 watching him lose to the aforementioned Hendry.

I’d go for Hendry too, he was so good in his early years, Ronnie is obviously brilliant and the left handed stuff underlines that, but Hendry won the UK with one arm one year iirc.

It's a talent against application question. Ronnie is undoubtedly the more talented player but as you say, Hendry had the mentality.

Balls too, dealt with adversity and very rarely cracked. Pulled out the big pots when he had to but his greatness was in his control and willingness to use the whole table.

It’s a shame they peaked at different times.

Agreed.

It is a close one, I think for me the fact Ronnies taken every record except World Champs and got better as he got older when snooker got harder in terms of depth of challenge makes him the best as well as the most talented. But its all hair splitting stuff
