    Israel Gaza

you're right, Hamas should really be using their F16's and hi-tech drones to attack Israeli military targets, and then it would obviously be alright to kill 150 odd people because it's an accident, unless you're one of the dead people, then it might it be a bit more of an issue! not that i'm...

both sides are despicable and a threat to world peace, it doesn't matter if it's a bus bomb or a "targeted military strike" innocent people are still dying - current death toll stands at 152 palestinians and 5 israelis

Who set up our current tax laws!

exactly, the purpose of the deposit guarantee isn't to let the people who've put their money in a risky bank off the hook, the purpose is to prevent bank runs and collapses; and a systemic financial crisis!

Who set up our current tax laws!

i agree that low risk could be a nice selling point or a niche in the market, but how do you know they ‎are low risk unless the credit rating agencies and regulators tell you? and can you even rely on the ‎CRA’s or regulators? the average man on the street is hardly going to be carrying out...

Who set up our current tax laws!

CEO's don't even have a fudging clue what their own banks are up to (dimon - whale, fuld - lehman anyone?), yet the man on the street will suddenly take an interest and have a thorough understanding of a banks risk profile if you let a couple of banks go under, hmmmmm!

    Where you live

i wouldn't say it was foreign cash directly in places like kentish town, but maybe a knock-on effect of the influx of foreign cash in areas like kensington, hampstead, notting hill etc. means people who would previously have bought in those areas buy in places like KT as they've been priced out...

    Cycling thread

i think you're probably right, if you were a serious triathlete you'd want a road bike, but i think if you maybe fancied having a go at a triathlon for the fun/challenge but also wanted to use your bike for commuting etc. then something like cyclocross would suffice. you can always put thinner...

it's not actually a hybrid, it's a "cyclocross" bike which is used for mixed terrain races, but they're also supposed to be quite good in the urban environment - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cyclo-cross

Mitt Romney the next new leader of the free world!!!

i'd say narcissistic tendencies and the inability to empathise go hand in hand for many with a certain political persuasion

yeah kind of, this is the description off evans: "Check out a cyclocross bike if you are after versatility in a no-nonsense, traditional package. 'Cross bikes will take a pounding, and can serve as a commuter workhorse, an off-road explorer, or a grizzled racer - with little more than a...
