    Next Spurs manager mega-thread

It's a catch 22 situation. Young English managers / up and coming unproven managers are perceived as being unsuccessful so they won't get a chance at the top jobs, but if they don't get a chance at the top jobs they can never prove that they can be successful. Any manager is a risk. Hiddink...

    Next Spurs manager mega-thread

Agreed, and sometimes, stealing a march on the rest and being the club to take a chance (on a player or manager) can reap big dividends. He might come in and flop, but equally, we might decide he's not worth the risk and end up watching him go on to be a big success somewhere else and...

Same here. There's always a risk things might go tits up no matter who you appoint, whatever their level of experience. So if we're going to go down the "Give a young manager a chance to build something for years to come" route, Rogers is a good choice.

    Defoe caught offside again

When you say you don't care if he scored, do you mean in the match or with the "model"? :D

I agree that when they stopped putting floppy disk drives into the Mac it was a good idea, as it was an ancient device that was fast becoming totally unsuitable for modern computing, it needed to be phased out. HDMI is a very modern standard though, will be around for some time, and is by far...

Apple's focus is meant to be on simplicity and things "just working" (and in many cases they achieve that goal, which is why I switched from PCs to Macs a few years ago) and by far the simplest and easiest way of connecting a laptop to an external display (not just TVs) is with a standard HDMI...

I reckon it's a good bet. I think though, we'll actually beat them at Villa Park and get our customary loss at the Reebok, a double whammy to help send them down.

It has to be said, that while I think Apple make some great products, some of their hardware decisions are completely and utterly arse over tit! You've been able to get ?ú300-400 cheapo laptops for a good few years that have a standard HDMI socket for video/audio output to a big screen TV, yet...

    The midweek/weekend games thread

Reminds me of the newspapers after the World Cup in 2010 where there were headlines and stories of outrage because there were photos of England players "Smiling and laughing even though we've been knocked out!!!!!! Have they no shame????", as though they were supposed to look completely...

    Cheatski are still scum

Not only that, but Torres' goal made no difference! They were already going through on away goals!

That... "noise" from Neville was easily the most horrifying thing I've ever heard in football.

macaron Sky commentators, saying the booking for Chec was wrong, utterly missing the fact that he was given a ball by the ball boy which he then threw away to waste time.

Am I right in thinking that the line-in might only works on certain inputs? I'm pretty sure that the line-in on one of our tellys only worked when the VGA input was selected.

    Apple TV

Yeah, you're buggered then, no sound over the HDMI cable. You'll still get the sound coming out of the speakers on the MacBook... and like Tommy says, you can connect to some external speakers through the headphone socket (or to the TV's line-in like Arcy says).

    Apple TV

Okay, that might not quite be right. It was definitely true a couple of years ago but according to Apple MacBooks from mid-2010 onwards will send the audio over the adaptor to the HDMI cable. When I had a MacBook Pro it was a 2009 model so it didn't send the audio. So if it's a pretty new...

What Have you been massively wrong about this season?

I've only been wrong about one thing: my many thoughts and opinions ;) I think a lot of people will probably list Saudi Sportswashing Machine. No way I thought they'd still be fighting for a CL spot at this stage of the season. You've gotta doff your cap to them really, great achievement considering they were...

    Apple TV

Nope, you need an adaptor to connect a MacBook to anything other than a mini-displayport. I like Apple stuff but they don't half fleece you when it comes to cables! Oh yeah, and the mini-displayport to HDMI adaptor doesn't send sound down the HDMI cable either, which is a pain. I think the only...
