GG's got talent (or maybe not)

Can't say I've listened to either, will check them out. I'm well versed with Wooten and Stanley Clarke though!

I'll check out Enigmatic Ocean too.

With the reading, I think I have the patience, just not sure about the time! But hopefully I'll get there.

How long you been playing guitar for, and what sort of stuff are you into?

If you are heading down the Jamiroquai route at the moment there is an obscure album by an Armenian based session keyboard player (yes really) Vahagn Stepanyan, called Moonlight. It's a funk groove feel on most tracks and he gets some of the best bass players in that field to guest on the tracks including Crawford, Pilichowski, and Melvin Lee Davis. I imagine it would be fun to play along with.

Thanks for that mate, will definitely check it out. Been listening to a lot of Nils Landgren funk unit lately, and enjoying it!

I play bass, currently in a wedding band. We don't play this song in the wedding band....

Doesn't it get disheartening playing bass? It looks like you are very good at playing bass, and it is a special example of playing bass with the camera just on the bass and presumably the bass turned up louder than the rest of the track, yet all I can hear is singing and drums with lead guitar and then every now and then when other instruments stop I can hear some little bass noises tapping away. Don't you want to play a more prominent part?

Those who can play lead guitar, those who can't. ..... ;)

Nah, part of the joy of playing bass is the complete misunderstanding of it's importance as an instrument as displayed perfectly by you (and many others). I know you're on the wind up, but it is a pretty good example

It's not meant to be prominent or stand out, that's part of the fun.

Fortunately I play both ;)

Here's what I "play". Didn't really plan on sharing it on GG, but what the hell. :p Everything in it derived from a Lorentz system I've tinkered with, for those inclined.

Wow. That is some machine @Daisuk

It just seems like a lot of hard work to make a sound. I guess it is akin to the difference between a mechanic's love of a car and a driver's love of a car. I don't get it I suppose but rock on or mod on or ...hmm.

Yeah, its somewhat fetishistic. It would be a lot easier to make on a computer, certainly, which I have done in the past, but it's much less enganging to interface with, so the output is much less interesting (in my opinion).

Do you do weddings?

I specialize in children's birthday parties and funerals. ;)

Ha ha 7 minutes long Daisuk!?

I skipped around a bit and it all sounded the same, like 5 people playing random keyboards at once. Very special!

There are bass players and then there is Mark King

I was a big fan of level 42 when I was a kid but mike lindups fecking keyboards ruined it much like Daisiks video has ruined this thread.

Although it is genius in a way. Reminds me of the council house down the road this year, at least with the lights, the tired dirty plastic elves knocking out a wonky rendition of rudolph the red nosed reindeer are almost as challenging musically.

I am just jealous.
