The General Transfer Rumours and Speculation Thread

#WHUFC miss out on £26m Carlos Bacca as he opts to stay with AC Milan

Ha. Ha. Ha.
I cannot believe that West Ham hung on as long as they did. They agreed a fee with Milan weeks ago, with the player apparently asking for time to 'make up his mind' (or to put in real terms 'delay in the hope that a big club come in for me'). It should've been pretty clear to West Ham that the player didn't want to join them. They had similar issues with Lacazette too, with the West Ham and Lyon pretty much agreeing a fee only for the player to rule out moving to them.

I wonder when they'll get to Chadli, for him to turn them down.

So who's the next £30m average Joe in Wet-Spams desperate striker hunt? How about planting some Damiao rumors? I'm sure they'll bite and go all in! :D:D:D

West ham remind me of those Russian clubs that think their important because they spend a lot of money or bid big for a striker when they are actually just a bricky club in a bricky area.

Yeah how dare West Ham try for good player, they should stick to bidding on average players so people on twitter don't laugh at them.

Bidding on good players is to be admired and applauded. However you also have to know when to move on, otherwise you run the risk of missing out on viable targets while the saga drags on.

IMO Bacca was a good target for West Ham, he seems to score goals wherever he plays and looks suited to be a PL striker.

I think West Ham just shoot themselves in the foot by their owners going public with everything. This summer they have managed to alienate their existing strikers, let their players know they are prepared to pay 150k a week wages and also let any striker out there they may go for now that they are about 6th choice on their shoping list. All avoidable with a bit of professionalism from the porno twins

I think it's a bit telling when of the 4 top most active player threads at the moment, one has signed for Everton, one is signing for Stoke and one is getting a new contract at Leicester. I.e. we really have finished our business.

So Poch was lying when he said he expected more signings?

The big problem is bidding for good players its getting them.
Also keeping the ones you have. We know at Spurs that keeping the likes of Payet and Mahrez is nigh on impossible if they want to leave.
I personally think both will move on this window.

Wenger needs get his check book out for Mahrez IMHO
Payet to PSG?

So your intimating that what we natter about on here shapes or has a bearing on Spurs's transfer strategy?
I doubt anybody on here has a clue.

He's not very good on his singular and plurals. He always talks about 'our fan'. I think he probably means Nkoudou and maybe an academy signing or two.

"one or two more" has nothing to do with plurals - it's like that time someone on here had "serious relegation fears"! Pretty damned clear what was meant imo
