Out of curiosity how many years after Kane retires are we still going to be mentioning his loan that made him as argument for why others could be developed to a similar quality?

He is one example, the vast majority we have loaned out do not go on to become much more than Championship level at best….

Not for long.... as Kane's loans never added up to much imo. :)

Jeez just seen the league table and Preston have scored 7 and conceded 6 in the league this season, that’s after todays 3-2 win! So before today it was GF 4 and GA 4 in 12 games, Boring fudgers!!!!

Good preparation for returning to us at some point then...

Was up in the Lakes last week and our coach drive was a Preston fan, had a chat with him and he thinks he started well but his confidence has dipped due to lack of goals, he said they are playing good football and will give someone a hiding soon. I told him with that sort of optimism he'd never be a Spurs fan.

So, will he do a Harry Kane once he comes back or is this another guy who was destined for glory that will end up at Notts County?

How did his loan go this season? I see he made 29 apps but was a lot of that from the bench?
He had a bad hamstring injury that required surgery so it's hard to judge. Seemingly when his loan was over he came back to us and did a couple of weeks training with the U21s, so it looks like his attitude has changed and he is working hard.

Hard to say at the moment, imo Scalett has probably jumped in front of him as a possiable striker for us going forward.

Loans are well and good but the main thing is, unfortunately, being able to give your youngsters some game time at the highest level. There are too many variables in a loan and the gap between the PL and the rest of the leagues has only grown bigger. I think what helped Kane immensely is the fact that when he began scoring, Sherwood kept him into the team.

It's a huge gamble for any manager to make but even more so at the club aiming for the Top 4 with limited resources. Sometimes, fate forces your hand but on the flip side, a young player will always look better alongside quality partners. Not sure Kane would have made his way to the top if he'd stayed at Millwall, for instance.
