Nuno Espírito Santo - Sacked

Great day/night with my pals
Awful 2 hours watching that brick
Last train home surrounded by lots of mashed up hot young girls isn’t that bad haha

Nobody! This is completely down to the Chairman - he has tried for years to achieve success on the cheap - now the better managers have realised that the job is not worth the candle - why would any decent coach/manager come here to be let down by their Chairman - a complete hospital pass. All those on here who support Enic/Levy need to have the scales fall from their eyes - when ENIC are long gone what will they be remembered for - one trophy! A lot of matches where we completely fell short of having that extra something that turns a good team into trophy winners... and because ENIC were not prepared to support the club at crucial times.
So, yes, they have delivered an exceptional stadium and training complex - they are great property developers - but they are useless at building a winning team. Sadly the only way a club can compete at the top of the PL and Europe is having owners who are prepared to throw half a £billion at the team/squad and those on here who reject the idea of a major backer who is prepared to invest serious money in the squad are complete purists and seem to be happy with us not winning anything as long as we remain out of the reaches of a Billionaire owner.
Those who tell us that Levy is a fan must ask themselves a question - if it was you as Chairman and you kept getting stuffed year after year, would you simply be content to smile at the Chairmen of MU, Chelski, Etihad project, Scousers, Gooners, Foxes and drink your wine - surely after twenty years of being also-rans you would want to move heaven and earth and find the many millions required to compete and beat them? But Daniel sails on with his MO - buy bargains/potential and one day we will hit pay dirt! This is just not the way to compete anymore - ENIC are played out and they should go - as Cromwell said - You have sat too long for any good you have been doing lately... Depart, I say; and let us have done with you. In the name of GHod, go!

Y'now what, dear heart? Maybe Spurs ain't the club for you. You must be strong to support Spurs. Pfft! You ain't. Off you pop.

I feel sorry for this guy. He has to walk a tight rope of using some players who arguably are not his. I would argue giving him January to attempt bringing in additional players on loan etc. I don't know if Spurs can afford it. I can't in good conscience analyse him until then.

My advice to him would be to try the front three he used at the start of the season. Bergwijn's drop seems to have coincided with Kane's return to the lineup. I appreciate Kane is vice captain but having someone who people can tell is no longer committed to the cause command a starting place hasn't gone down well.

The club definitely needs to get him better options. Having Kane as the only specialist striker in the squad is the lowest I have seen cover for that position in the team. To go from Mido, Keane, Defoe, Rasiak to Kane alone is a drop off. Pre Pochettino, the worst I remember was Roman Pavyluchenko with that Man Utd teenager we got for the Berbatov saga.

Not particularly against nuno but its obvious he is not any kind of long term answer. Further we cannot be waiting around for poch in 2023 in the hope he doesnt sign a psg extension or go somewhere else. And there is no guarantee a second poch stint will work like the first.

The club were by all accounts doing an extremely in depth review and search for a manager in the summer and its all a bit weird that by the end of it we were looking at fonseca, gattuso and nuno.

It was a mistake not to push hard for ten hag but especially potter as he knows the league. He has a contract until may 2025 and is on £1.75m a year. Does this mean we pay his contract up (circa £6m) and brighton realistically cant stop us speaking with him?

Yes there is questions now whether he’d even want the job but if he is ambitious he has to know he’s not going to get a top 4 job straight from brighton unless he delivers routine CL football and a couple of trophies. He needs to do very well at a spurs/arsenal type club first.

So I reckon he’d come, so why aren’t we doing it when its obvious nuno isnt the answer and quite possibly potter is. The overall financials involved (moving nuno on and bringing in potter) is also likely to be no more than £8m-£9m.

Get it done now and potter has the rest of this season to dissect the club and work out what he needs ahead of next summer.

If levy is not doing this because he doesn't want to upset his old mate paul barber then thats another reason why he should resign imo.

A passing and pressing progressive manager unlocks all the potential of our squad. It heartbreaking we've had more than two years of absolute dinosaurs slowly destroying us
Unlocks the potential? What? Just to check, whose potential are you referring to?

Can't be defence or defensive midfield. Is it the offence - who there is younger than 25 that needs unlocking?

Personally I think it’s a combination of things:

- Kane not wanting to be here, and that impacting his performances as well as squad togetherness
- Question marks at best at no. 7, no.8 and no.10 (Moura, Lo Celso, Ndombele and Alli) - the three players most responsible for creativity in our 4-2-3-1
- Santo being too defensive a manager, especially coming in straight after Mourinho

Personally I wouldn’t be trying to bring in a new manager this season - think he’d still be working with the first two problems, and it would just increase the sense of crisis and shambles - it would just be a poisoned chalice.

I’m hoping instead we can sell Kane, Alli and Ndombele in the summer, get in some decent replacements, and bring Potter in with a committed, fresh squad at his disposal.

Ndombele, Lo Celso and Alli (and maybe Bergwijn). We all know they can be top players in other systems. Or even just having a possession system that allows Son and Kane to do their thing again

Ndombele, Lo Celso and Alli (and maybe Bergwijn). We all know they can be top players in other systems.

I’m not sure there’s much evidence for that claim.

Ndombele: has never done it in a proper league.

Lo Celso: looks good playing alongside Messi for Argentina. So would I.

Alli: hasn’t played well for three seasons.

Bergwijn: see the comment for Ndombele.

All four have had ample chances under a number of managers to show how good they are. None have (with the exception of Dele, light years ago under Poch).
