im not convinced he is bit his record here isn’t good
A muscle injury can happen with the season we’re having
The rest I can’t really remember
But at least he gets injured playing unlike Lamela who specialises in injuring himself in training

Does appear to be yet another player hit by Tottenham’s midfield injury hoodoo, 114 days out injured so far in his 17 months with us according to www.transfermarkt.co.uk/

I've said the same since day one. He's a CM and should be playing as a CM. He's doing well now but would be so much more pivotal and influential if played deeper.

The maddening thing is all his attributes suit the berth next to Hojberg.

But then there is that strongish link to Sabitzer as well suggesting the idea was to fill that berth with someone we don't currently have. He could have changed his opinion and may now think Ndombele can play there I suppose. [emoji848]

I personally don't like the idea of Eriksen coming back. I generally don't think clubs or players should ever go back and Eriksen's form was dire a long period before he left and it's still pretty shocking. I see no reason to expect him to come in here and sparkle again.
 
Jose Mourinho says Tottenham's Tanguy Ndombele had to change

Tanguy Ndombele's form has undergone a resurgence at Tottenham this season because the midfielder "realised he had to change", according to Jose Mourinho.

Many eyes will be on the Tottenham bench away at Sheffield United on Sunday, live on Sky Sports Premier League, to see if there is a place for Dele Alli, with much being made of his lack of first-team involvement this season.

A year ago, there was similar intrigue surrounding Ndombele's absence from the team.

The combative France international midfielder endured spells on the sidelines because of injuries last term but he was also heavily criticised by Mourinho for lacklustre displays, following his arrival from Lyon for £54m in July 2019.

Now though, he is transformed. The 24-year-old has scored as many goals (two) and created as many chances (12) so far this season as he did during the whole of last season, and he is a regular starter in Mourinho's first XI.

Only Hugo Lloris, Harry Kane, Heung-Min Son, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Eric Dier have started more matches for Tottenham in the Premier League so far this season.

Mourinho believes Ndombele's turnaround demonstrates what can be achieved if a player has the desire to "work in a different way".

"I always say, and I've really felt it all through my career, that the big responsibility for good and for bad is [with] the player," Mourinho said in an exclusive interview with Sky Sports News when asked about his role and personal pride in Ndombele's revival.

"We don't make miracles. We don't make players when they have no quality and when they have no desire and no discipline and no motivation. So for good or bad, it's always the player's responsibility and we are the ones who can try to help.

"Sometimes they are open for that and other times they are not. When they are not, there is nothing you can do, but when they are open, you feel that motivation to help them.

"When Tanguy arrived here his condition was not good. When I arrived he was getting small injury after small injury which I believe was his responsibility.

"And for him to realise that he had to change, and work in a different way, is to his credit. Yes, he is playing and playing well. We are happy with him. But, I repeat, it's total credit to Tanguy."

Incredible, scarcely believable finish - the sort that a footballer would be lucky to score as an utter fluke once in his life, never mind with the control and accuracy Ndombele used.

But even better, it capped off a truly wondrous performance from the guy, and he lasted the full 90 for the first time in an eternity (in the PL, anyway). He was an absolute, pulsating menace - you could see when he got on the ball, the entire SU defence backpedalled frantically in fear of what he would do. He straight up bodied fools today - and from a *deeper* role. This is where he belongs, imo - deep, next to Hojbjerg, dictating play, having space to turn and play those line-breaking passes or drive into space.

Magnificent, magisterial game. He gave the ball away once or twice - that's to be expected. But what we got in return was an absolute joy of a footballing performance, which put absolute terror into the opposition.

It's good to see him do that - good to see someone fear us again for what we can do with the ball.

It was the kind of goal you're lucky to see your team score every 5 years or so (unless Zlatan plays for your team).

My wife thought I'd had a bit of an accident when she heard me watching it go in.

Those quotes are probably attributed to Dele as much as they are NDombele....
