Joe Rodon

Good debut, even Roy Keane is being very kind about him... Few nervy moments but to be expected, overall very positive.

Thought he was at least as good as Dier, maybe even edged it. Confident on the ball, good distribution and handled the Chelsea attack fairly well. Impressed with what I've seen so far.

Hard to rate defenders when you set up to defend so deep as a unit - few nervy moments and mistakes that could have been punished but can't ask for more than a clean sheet away to a top 4 rival

Lucky boy, two potentially costly moments, but did well overall and got whacked near the end

Welcome to the Premier League boyo
What was the first costly moment? I remember the Giroud chance but I don't remember the other one.

mistake that led to the offside goal by werner early on

Aurier also fell here, don't think it was Rodon's fault but not seen a replay. The Giroud one was bad, at that stage of the game you have to just hoof it but he's obviously confident.

The one at the end was tough because the ball bounced up so he has to play it with his head. He can’t wait for it to come down or Giroud might do him. But he can’t reach Hugo from there, he should be heading away from goal.

Thought he started dreadfully. Not just the mistake for the goal but he was making a hash of 5-10 yard passes under no pressure by leaving them shortish or playing them behind the recipient. From that mistake for the goal to the Giroud chance he was excellent. Strong, assured and got in a lot of good blocks. At this point, I’d rather him to Sanchez.

CB was the one area I had massive, massive concerns for us. But Dier and Toby looked a great pairing and Rodon and Tanganga look good prospects. 1 goal conceded in 5 games and that shouldn’t have stood. Very good signs.

Rodon lost the ball trying to bring it out, aurier slipped after that - good work by the linesman to spot the offside, no var needed

A couple of dodgy moments but apart from that he did well, hard game to make his debue in but came through it well.
