I am a Liberal and i would defend it. Like i said though the left hate/distrust the BBC as much as you guys on the right do. Thats not a "my best friends are black" arguement thats a hard fact, that you can research yourself go on to the labour party forum in Facebook and starting discussion there about it.

Better treatment should be coming soon, or better track and trace. Either way i dont think the government have been very good so far.

I said they were MSM in this country. And they are. They are the most read publications around.

In terms of why here. English is a language most of them can speak a bit of. And this is a better place to come and work and make a life. There's plenty of data that proves that once their claims are accepted and they settle, these people are a net positive on the economy.

English is my second language as I was raised with Kashmiri but it is the most common second language globally I would imagine.

Think it must be a language thing as I'm not sure I'd except we are better place to live and work.

Do you think it's an integration thing ie community is more likely to be accepting or as a minimum tolerant.?

And how are they treated in France? Is there anything in that that makes them want out of there. A dinghy boat trip is risky after all.

You are correct. Long term prospects in terms of work are good. Community is good. We aren't a racist country compared to France and Greece and Italy. They will be treated better.

Integration is the tricky part. Do immigrants want to integrate? . Do white, "indigenous" folk want to integrate? There isn't a binary answer here. For example I grew up in the absolute roughest part of my town and now I live somewhere fairly nice and peaceful. As more and more brown people like myself do well and move in to these nicer areas the locals tend to move further out to villages to find things more familiar. This isn't racism. It's just human fudgein nature. People like to be around familiar things. It makes them feel safe. New things are frightening. Asians and Blacks aren't as scary as Roma these days. There will be something new to he scared of soon. And Asians are now incredibly racist to Roma folk, which drives me nuts.

Long term though if you look at UK v France from a refugee perspective then UK is better as you can thrive here. Not sure it's so easy there.

businesses are on the verge - BA have lost 3 Billion so far, Even the mega rich Emirates are cutting routes and jobs into the U.K.

We need to starting getting out of this now.

Well for essential travel i would allow it now. Holidays will have to wait a year. Im guessing by March we will either have a good enough cure or effective treatment.

I actually share similar views with you about getting back to work. I have Parkinson's and had covid 19, im back working in my customer facing job at B&Q 3 days a week.

Life comes with some risk and we have to accept that. My view is the teacher unions just want to bring down the government.

Air travel seems a way this virus is spread so cutting it as much as possible seems sensible.

A year without a foreign holiday does not seem like a big ask and frankly the way the Spanish and French press gleefully reported our death rate i dont see why we should be saving their tourism industries.

They might have their own objectives but they marry with long held views of my own.

The current wife works in prisoner welfare and reform. Would not say it in front of her but that is a hotbed of lefty liberal hug a hoodie flimflam and the people and charities that are involved in it are all establishment type tw*ts i can not stand.

The end destination choice being the UK is probably down to human nature as well. It's the well trodden path of other refugees/asylum seekers, the word filters back that things are ok and life is stable. Most have left a desperate situation, I imagine just some form of stability is nirvana?

I'm hoping a generational cycle will help all this. The more schools that end up with kids from multiple races the more that generation will have an understanding of each other. I know you can't account for the prejudices of parents being in their children's ear but possibly the kids might actually also bring the adults into contact with each other as well. An integration pipe dream, maybe? Or hopefully just normalisation?

This is it. Organic contact rather than forced integration. Forged integration will breed hate and resentment in the long term. We need to let it happen naturally.

Who is mentioning the rich?

I'm talking and always have people who earn to live. One mate who is blatently showing signs of mental health issues because of the threat if job loss, there is the decision of best of two evils. You are talking like we are discussing Branson or the elite, I'm not.

If people can work safely they should be given the chance to

As for Heart and lung illness I'm not playing it down I'm using the data available which suggests that it's not likely and not long term in the majority of cases. If you had Covid19 in a mild form you would be back at work now as I know many who are.

I would personally as said weigh up risk to save family 3-4 years of financial uncertainty and street a job loss would bring including strain on my kids and marriage. If you can't see the value in that belief then that's the way it goes
