Ndombele

I remember the dance Levy and Aulas did over Lloris, kept implying things were close etc then no movement. They will both haggle over the deal to death, especially with the big fee involved....

The player has also said publicly that he won't make any decisions until his holiday is done, that's still at least a week or two.

Tottenham Hotspur's pursuit of Lyon midfielder Tanguy Ndombele has taken another twist after the French club's president Jean-Michel Aulas admitted the player has asked to leave.

Spurs have been looking to tie up a deal for the 22-year-old France international but are up against a number of big sides for his signature as they try to agree a fee with Lyon.

It is believed that Ndombele, who is currently on his holidays, favours a move to Tottenham where he will play regularly under Mauricio Pochettino.

Lyon announced on Tuesday that they have signed Flamengo's Jean Lucas, a 21-year-old defensive midfielder, with Aulas having previously said that when the club signed such a player it meant Ndombele was likely to go.

Now Aulas has admitted, while presenting Lucas to the media, that Ndombele wants to leave.

"He is seeking a departure. Nothing is done but the door may be open," Aulas is reported as saying in the press conference.

"Tanguy Ndombele is wanted by the biggest clubs. Nothing is done. If he were to leave, we targeted a number of players. Thiago Mendes is one of them."

Tottenham fans will be hoping that chairman Daniel Levy can get the transfer over the line for one of Europe's most highly rated young midfielders.

Tanguy Ndombel is getting closer and closer to Tottenham, the deal is one step away: closing operation for 62 million plus bonuses.

Only a few details are missing before the final agreement and then the '96 midfielder will go to England for medical examinations and signing the contract with the Spurs, as soon as he resolves the last situations with Lyon. The Premier League is waiting for him.

Anyone think winks and ndombele will be the preferred partnership?

Neither an out and out defensive midfielder but as both have an eye on that side of the game it may work with them both?

Then maybe keep dier and wanyama as two back up options to focus solely on the dirtier side of the role when needed.

As much as I admire sissoko for turning things around and being brilliant at times, it is hard to see where he fits in given his age and this summer being the last and possibly perfect time to maximise his resale value.

Maybe sissoko and nkoudou to lyon for some of that ndombele cash could work. Maybe £55m for the pair :D

Was desperate to sign him after his breakout season for Lyon (when he was strangely on loan to them them from Lille?) So to say I'm excited now that he has even further improved and we appear to be getting the deal done is an understatement
