Politics, politics, politics (so long and thanks for all the fish)

What would be really interesting is if the rest of NATO doesn't back America.

UK, France and Germany have already started keeping distance by sticking to the nuclear deal.

ISIS in Iraq (UK) and Syria (France) were a bit different because of old colonial ties to those countries. But Iran was never colonised so there's no 'sphere of influence' reason for either to get involved at all.
I can't see NATO countries being on board with any intervention. This is being driven out of SArabia and Israel and a lesser extent UAE, and indeed by war hawks like Bolton. Pompeo is making ludicrous connections to unrelated events to build a case for war when there isn;t any to speak of.

The one thing that doesn't line up is that Russia is an Iranian ally and has such a sway over Trump I can't see him pulling the trigger. Who knows with him though.

The name would help more. What case are you referring to?

Lyra Mckee.

It's interesting that Jo Cox was murdered by a righ wing extremist/member of the far right yet @Gilzeantoscore looks for assassination when it's a left wing group.
As if the taking of life is any more palatable under different names.
There is no excuse for killing in politics in what is supposed to be a civilised society, and it happens on both sides.

There is plenty in the left and right who speak about Saudis - the left tends to be around Yemen the right around 9/11.

Not as much as they should be.

Trumps a high profile home run, easy pickings for a number of left groups, but the fact that Saudi's regime has done ten fold more harm hat he has on issues such as death penalty, women's rights and gay rights. People that want to protest Trump but not Saudi, I struggle with their motives.

The UK is full of Middle Eastern money owned by regimes that oppress beyond what people should be comfortable with , the Sultan of Brunei being a rightful victim of boycott, but like this week people would rather get the likes of this Tory sacked for man handling women but when was the last protest of note against the like of Dubai, Saudi, Qatar etc etc etc.

The dissident IRA killing? That was purported to be as a result of her researching missing IRA targets from the troubles. To connect that with left-wing marxism (if that is what you are trying to do) is tenuous at best.

I haven't/hadn't followed it very closely but was under the impression that it was a totally random killing and she was not a specific target. It was just a shot at a group of people and it was unfortunate that anyone never this women was hit.
Also do the affiliated political wing of the new ira (I can't remember the name) not deem themselves as a left wing socialist/Marxist party?

Well they don't know really, but one theory is it was to do with a book she was researching on missing boys from the troubles (which may be a conspiracy theory). It could equally have been random. Wrong place at the wrong time. Either way I doubt it has anything to do with where the IRA are on the left-right spectrum, nor where Ms McKee is on that spectrum. Calling it a left-wing killing would be inaccurate IMO. It is a killing that should be viewed separate to the political leanings of the perpetrators, which are irrelevant to the motivations behind it.

Maybe not her murder specifically but it could argued that the intended killing arising from the firing of the shot was to further their cause.
Although personally I'm not convinced that it wasn't just some idiot getting carried away and showing with no thought of the consequences.

It does though I think back up my point, not all the nutters are on the right, extremes of anything will always attract idiots. The lefts failure to acknowledge that.

There are nutters of all persuations I'm sure, but most of them are on the right though ;)

Are they Marxists? I thought they were just a bunch of mindless thugs. What's the bet that not one of them has read Das Kapital.

What the fudge are you talking about? That is an exceptionally long bow to draw... but you keep pulling on it mate...ha, ha, ha. Assassination is merely a word that denotes murder motivated by politics, nothing more, nothing less.

It's only 6k a year. I would rather live in a nicer fairer society.

If 6k a year is the price to pay for the leader of my country to not be a lying c unt then, I think it's worth it.
A society where we punish success less is a fairer society.
