Politics, politics, politics (so long and thanks for all the fish)

Downing Street said Theresa May had viewed the footage and decided to suspend Field. He had referred himself to the Cabinet Office and the Conservative party, who are both investigating.

“She found it very concerning. The police have said they are looking into reports over this matter,” May’s spokeswoman said.

“He will be suspended as a minister while this investigation takes place. Mansion House are looking into the breach of security that took place and we believe it is right they are now reviewing their security arrangements.”

May is understood to have spoken to her chief whip, Julian Smith, after viewing the footage, and Smith told Field he had been suspended mid-morning on Friday.

Thats laughable, I have just seen the new footage on ITV where there are tons of them and they refuse to leave and security are using force to eject them.

Its such a storm in a tea cup its unreal. Greenpeace storm dinner and get ejected. Big Deal

Yeh maybe and if it was a little rougher than he needed to be even then I would say the out pouring is far greater than the action.

ALSO lets get it right, this woman would have gone in with her big boy pants on and known the risks, Greenpeace are activists and they prepare for all this and the worst case, thats a fact.
Greenpeace want this stuff to happen - it's the only way they get noticed.

In self defence? I'd be very surprised
how can you throw a milkshake at someone to eject them? we are getting into semantics here anyway- throwing a milkshake on its own shouldn't be Assault and those calling it assault while this isn't are laughable.

neither are for me.

Milkshaking should be both a valid form of protest and assault. For those to whom such nonsense matters, then they should be willing to take the consequences. I'd be interested to see how many of those throwing shakes are able to pay for the replacement of what are likely £2k+ suits.

disagree Assault is a criminal conviction - way over the top. should be a civil suit if you want them to pay or small claims. If its repeatable issue an asbo or banning order or some such.

So what happens when the minimum wage monkey can't afford to pay for the suit? Then there has to be further recourse.

Maybe but she didn't throw battery acid so I was a little lost. If we start criminalizing "jokes" (she isn't funny) as the same as committing the act we are going to have very busy police and there are a fair few comedians out there who are going down for life.

Oh don't get me wrong I was just explaining the reference, her joke was fine, no issues with it

So if it is an attacker stand aside and wait for security to deal it?
No need for stupid sarcasm you seem to become a bit of a keyboard warrior when someone makes a point you disagree with. There was no threat there she didn't raise a weapon or make threats unless I am mistaken. I don't buy the whole threat flim flam. If she had been a serious threat I bet most MPs would brick themselves.

Speaking as a former police officer, I used to assess the situation and be very careful when I had to intervene physically.
