Pat Jennings

Belated birthday wishes to big Pat, best 'keeper we've had.
Had his own song too in simpler times, "Pat Jennings.....Pat Jennings.....Pat Jennings......", etc.

Best Spurs keeper I have seen and arguably the best British keeper as well. Who could forget the 2 penalty saves at Anfield and the goal in the Charity Shield at Old Trafford.

Saw a classic match on SKy yesterday, Arsenal-Spurs. Must have been from the early eighties, as We had Clemence and Jennings was in goal for the gooners. We won 1-0. Was brilliant to watch two of our best GKs ever play in the same game.

Was watching highlights of some of the old games on youtube lately and found some from 1969.

Greaves and Chivers up front together surprised me as didnt think they played together. I guess Greaves was nearing the end and big chiv just starting out.

Jennings was in goal and a young Perryman was playing too.

Makes you wonder what they would have achieved if we managed to get Bobby Moore in. Very sad for both Club and player that it never happened.

When he first signed it was Gilly and Greaves who played the most upfront, it was only when Jimmy left in 70 that Martin became the main man.

i remember reading somewhere he had absolutely massive hands, he caught a few balls one handed of course.
