***TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR vs Saudi Sportswashing Machine OMT***

Anyone else keen to see Ange try Bentancur as the 6, replacing Bissouma? I think he’d be at least as good on the ball, and might actually be more intelligent defensively than Biss too. Then stick Sarr at 8, and Biss on the bench for a game.

    Bryan Gil

IMO it’s a bit of a myth that Modric was slight. Short, maybe. But look at these legs: I think Gil is unusually lightweight.

    Ange’s system / formation

You’ve quoted me - was your post aimed at me? I don’t know why - personally I was just trying to start an interesting conversation about tactics, not make or ask for judgements on our success so far under Ange. Incidentally, I’m delighted with Ange and our progress under him. I’m just curious...

The worst thing about their goal was that it wasn’t even in transition. We were actually in our defensive shape. But Werner leaves their full-back, and Udogie inexplicably sprints towards him and then doesn’t run back with him. Can’t tell how much of it is Destiny’s fault, and how much is Ange’s...

    Ange’s system / formation

As we close in on Ange’s first full season, what are people’s thoughts on his system / formation? Like most people, I love how attacking it is. But as time goes on, I find it a bit weird how it’s so focused on getting the full-backs into no. 10 areas. Wouldn’t we rather have the likes of...

    Timo Werner

(Edit: actually maybe we’re saying the same thing - we don’t concede lots of chances, but when we do they’re high quality ones). Actually if you look at xG rather than shots, we do concede a lot of chances - 8th most in the league: Number of shots are low because we don’t give up much...

Yup, that had me fudging fuming.

To be fair we had those two giant chances we missed at 3-0 when the game was already over, which skews things.

**** Tottenham Hotspur FC vs Fulham FC ****

Personally I thought everyone had been overrating the Villa performance anyway. First half wasn’t much better than today IMO. We just took two chances quickly (and then the red card), whereas today it was Fulham who did that to us.

At the end of the day we’ll always be vulnerable at the back if we’re not pressing effectively. And for whatever reason we didn’t seem able to do that today. Though to be honest I find our terrible passing even more of a concern. Don’t know why it looks so off these days.

Biss ball watching for the goal. Starting to worry about him. At least we have Bentancur as competition.

Sorry if someone’s already posted this, but the laws of the game are pretty clear on obstruction being a foul. Don’t understand why pundits never actually reference the rules when talking about decisions (or indeed fudging referees!)

So tinkled off with Kulu. I can always forgive technical/physical failings more than I can stupid decisions. Just no need to foul when we had defenders back, and we’ve looked vulnerable at set pieces all match.

*** OMT Tottenham Hotspur v Everton FC ***

Yes it’s a contact sport, but IMO that doesn’t mean you can purposefully back into someone to block them with zero intent of going for the ball. If a striker was running toward a through ball on goal and the defender just ran sideways into his path and jumped in front of him, I’m pretty sure...

Couldn’t agree more. Stunning visuals, appalling writing.
