Loved those two flicks.
He's certainly been better than he has been at times (although that's a very low bar to beat).
Still spacks it about a bit but definitely looks more comfortable in a style where we're not playing passing football (clearly not his strength).

Nobody made up that he was awful last season and I'm sure all are happy to see him play like tonight. There's a lot of appreciation and people openly stating that his performances are now making them reevaluate their opinion on him.
All this "Can we have everybody that said" etc etc is playground flimflam. Unless you're Siss's Mum or primary school teacher then get over the fact that people weren't nice when he looked like he couldn't fulfil his basic job requirements and didn't appear to have any fight or determination to boot.
If you've never had any doubt regarding the player then good for you but bitching like this is boring and only feeding certain trolls.
For me it shows the drawback of last minute deals if it's the full pre-season with us that's made the difference because he looks a completely different beast. Long may it continue.

The debate was never about last season, it was about this season when he was playing no where near as badly as people were saying but still getting the stick, as if it was last season's performance level.
Just quite nice to have some acknowledgement and people admitting they can see the other side. Maybe not the most graceful thing to ask for it but sod it, a few us really went to town defending Sissoko when we felt like he deserved it and felt he was being harshly treated, and now he is playing really well.
They both played for Toulouse at one point.

I don't think it's unreasonable that a player playing poorly is criticised and a player playing well is complimented.
Sissoko at his best is way, way better than he has been for us, but still a long way from what I consider "Spurs standard". He's the kind of player we would have been happy with 10 years ago, but our bar is so much higher now. I don't expect every player to be a Kane or an Eriksen, but I at least expect them to be as good as Son or Dier. I think he's still a very long way from that standard.

This is an important part of his game that is often overlooked. I recall last season he came on as a second half substitute to assist Walker against Wilfred Zaha. It enabled us to win at Palace when Zaha was threatening to cut us open with each run, much as he did to Chelsea on Saturday.

He was excellent tonight. Not a long way from Spurs standard at all, but one of the best players on the pitch in a game against Real Madrid.
Excellent is a huge stretch.
He wasn't even the stand out player in what was (in terms of our normal style of play) a poor performance from us. He can be useful for those 4 or 5 times a season when we have to play like that, but is a massive hindrance when we're playing proper football.

Just about to post the same thing. Not sure what he showed tonight that wasn’t “Spurs” standard. His passing was good, his first touch excellent, (remember his delightful flick to bring the ball into his run?) his running and movement was good, covered well for Aurier and was marshalling his team mates to retain their shape. Very good all round performance and I am starting to see why Poch didn’t want him sold.

All things considered, I think he was.
If he really found his confidence, he could replace Dembele, because he has the ability to pick up the ball deep, drive forward and offload it. I thought this when we bought him, that if he was to have a role in the team, it'd be cover for Dembele. I think he's starting to show he could play that role for us and it's very useful in light of Dembele's fitness issues.

Yeah, maybe he wasn't quite excellent. But he was t'riffic. Worked the ball well, ran his bag off, maybe left a bump or bruise to ensure the other lot didn't die of boredom.
