Harry Kane MBE

It would be interesting to know how many goals Greaves had for Spurs after the same games as Kane.

In fact I wonder if Kane is the highest scorest player for Spurs after the number of games he has played.

Who will be finding this out :D

FWIW...

according to his wiki page, Greaves scored 93 goals in 104 top flight games during his first 3 seasons at tottenham... 110 in 125 games in all comps over those 3 seasons.

Kane is currently on 84 goals in 123 PL games... 110 in 177 games all comps for Spurs.

Greaves goalscoring feats were nothing short of astonishing from the moment he made his Chelsea debut in the late 50s but we do need a bit of context here. Because a big difference between then and now is the higher number of goals most defences conceded compared with nowadays. Emirates Marketing Project for example finished fifth in 1958/59 having scored 104 in 42 top flight League games but conceded 100.

Different players different eras

Greaves would score plenty on this day and age too though IMO

He is still very under rated IMO

Romelu Lukaku - 7 goals from 23 shots (15 on target)
Sergio Agüero - 6 goals from 20 shots (10 on target)
Álvaro Morata - 6 goals from 12 shots (8 on target)
Harry Kane - 6 goals from 30 shots (16 on target)

Not bad at all from Morata, 6 goals from 12 shots.

You may laugh, but I think if Harry can stay fit all season, and it is a big if, I think Clive Allen's record could be under threat.

Clive scored 'only' 33 League goals in 38 appearances in 1986/87  compared with Harry's 29 from 30 last term, so that one's comfortably within Harry's reach if all goes well.

But Allen's total of 49 from 47 appearances in League, FA Cup and League Cup that season might be a little more challenging because it looks like Harry won't be used too often for domestic cup ties, meaning he'd have to make up the numbers in the Champions League and/or the Europa. And that's assuming we go far enough in one or both of those competitions for him to get the chance.

But at the rate he's going, anything's possible.
