Kevin Wimmer

I think that it was telling that Poch changed formation after that game so that he didn't have to select him. He must've done something fundamentally wrong for that to happen.

Poch had changed formation many times before though don't forget

The telling thing in that game was we were over run from the start and you can't blame the defence for that

The thing after that game was we didn't need to change the team but strangely did for the biggest game we had after that (cup semi playing son left back )

Poch normally only changes formation when it is forced on him. He tends to pick the best 11 players and then find the best system for them. After the City game, Wimmer appears to have never been considered one of the best available 11 again.

He isn't one of our best 11 though and that's not debatable

He is a back up centre back but when he did have the run of games he was excellent and for me pushed Verts to keep him on his toes

The timing would tie in with the report that Foyth will be here on Tuesday to finalise his move.

I'll be sorry to see Wimmer go, but it's understandable that he wants to play. He didn't have the greatest time last season, but looked a decent player when he stood in for Verts. Another player who will move on with good wishes from fans.

And a nice little profit to boot.

48 hours - it has to be true then

He and Son were getting in some last minute cuddle time on the touchline yesterday I noticed

I still cant get over Wimmers fall from grace. A year or so back I was thinking this guy is really going to threaten Vertonghen, yet since then he has been frozen out of the team without ever really doing a lot wrong. Good luck to him, always seemed happy from the sidelines when we've scored etc so looks like a real team player....

You bring a player in for cover in arguably our three hardest away games and unless they fly their reputation is gonna suffer... Arsenal away, Chelsea away (left back) and city away were games IMO not to judge him on

But it's a decent profit and a good opportunity for him to progress elsewhere as I'm sure we will too

Another great piece by the Mirror - do people actually still buy these papers?
